Cardiff University guide
Founded in 1883, Cardiff University has a long history of producing some impressive alumni. If you attend you’ll be walking the same halls as famous politicians, Nobel prize winners, award-winning journalists and prestigious sportsmen.
The impressive campus is really a tale of two universities: the main founding grounds are spread around Cathays Park in central Cardiff across a number of historic buildings, while more modern facilities for health sciences students are based just on the edge of Heath Park, about two miles north of the main campus.
One of the main attractions of Cardiff University is its extensive sports facilities. It’s pretty tough to avoid getting involved in some sort of physical activity here, with a Sports Training Village next door to the main halls of residence at Talybont, which boasts three floodlit sport pitches and indoor halls. There’s also a fitness centre based on the main campus and a 33 acre sports field situated just outside the city centre.
