Loughborough is a top 10 UK university that is located right in the heart of the country. Our fantastic single-site campus is home to 17,000 students and staff from over 150 different countries, and is the largest of its kind in the UK. Loughborough itself is a lively market town that is really geared towards its student population. It has a vibrant nightlife and plenty of reasonably-priced places to eat and socialise with friends, including a brand new Cineworld complex opened in summer 2016. If you’re looking to head further afield, our convenient Midlands location means that London is reachable by direct train in less than 1.5 hours and you can be in Nottingham, Leicester or Derby within 30 minutes. We are also only 15 minutes from East Midlands Airport so international travel couldn’t be easier.

In 2015 we opened our brand new London campus in Queen Elizabeth Park, the former home of the London 2012 Olympics. Loughborough University London offers a range of exciting new postgraduate programmes with a focus on design innovation, digital technology and enterprise development. Fees and Financial Support
Loughborough welcomes students from all backgrounds. We offer a wide range of scholarships, designed to support UK and international students at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, whilst providing help and guidance to those applying for external funding. Loughborough University is currently home to over 2,000 international students, representing around 150 different countries beyond the EU. We host regular events on campus to celebrate the many diverse cultures that form part of our vibrant student community. These events provide an excellent opportunity to meet new people and are often run in collaboration with the many cultural societies at our Students’ Union. Our multi-award winning Students’ Union (LSU) — recently named best in the country at the WhatUni Student Choice Awards 2016 — is a hub for the many social and extracurricular activities available on campus. There are over 100 different student clubs and societies on offer ranging from Aikido and Yoga to Hot Air Ballooning and Quidditch – you can set up your own, too. Alongside weekly nights out, the Union also organises an exciting programme of events throughout the year, so there is never a shortage of things to look forward to. These include a biannual open mic spoken word event and FreeFest, a student-led music festival that takes place every summer.
Our LSU Rag society raises money for a variety of charities both in the UK and abroad. They organise fundraising activities that range from ‘Rag Raids’ in local cities through to skydiving and trekking in Morocco’s Atlas mountains. Getting involved is a great way to give something back to local and international communities whilst taking part in the many once-in-a-lifetime experiences on offer. There is something for everyone and with such an impressive range of opportunities available our students’ free time is anything but dull.
Loughborough’s international reputation as a leading sports university means that whether you’re participating at an elite level or just for fun you can do so in world-class, state-of-the-art facilities. As well as being a base for major sports organisations such as the National Cricket Performance Centre our campus has an Olympic-sized swimming pool, two gyms, several all-weather pitches, an International Athletics Stadium and Indoor Training Centre plus lots more.
If you’d like to participate in sport on a more casual basis don't worry because we ensure that every student has the opportunity to get involved regardless of ability or interest. Library and IT Services
The library, fresh from its recent £5m makeover, has an impressive range of resources to help students with their studies. There are over 9,000 square metres of space offering more than 1,300 study spaces, ranging from individual study carrels to fully-equipped group study rooms, all of which are bookable online. The collection houses over 700,000 volumes of books, DVDs and CDs, and students also have access to 100 databases and 30,000 electronic journals. As well as being able to connect your own personal devices to the campus-wide wireless network, the library has more than 200 PCs available for its users and is open 24/7 during revision and exam periods. There are several other computer labs on campus, most of which also have 24/7 access.
Loughborough prides itself on developing well-rounded and employable graduates. Our Careers Network is there to support you every step of the way, offering a comprehensive programme of development courses alongside a wide-range of online training materials and one-to-one support. All of our undergraduate courses have the option to include a paid placement year and in addition to helping students secure these the Careers Network also supports with graduate job searches. They provide lots of guidance on the application process from the initial application itself through to interview tips and advice, so that you can be fully prepared for post-university life.
Loughborough is also home to the largest annual campus careers fair, with more than 6000 students and 210 exhibitors attending in 2015. The health and wellbeing of each and every member of our community is of paramount importance to us. We have an on-campus NHS medical centre as well as a dentist practice and a pharmacy. In addition, all of our students have access to a variety of services including counselling and mental health support. Loughborough’s award-winning student accommodation has options to suit all preferences and budgets. We have 15 halls of residence — 8 offering self-catered accommodation and a further 7 catered halls. The majority of our halls are based on campus and all are within short walking distance, so whichever hall you choose you’ll be right at the centre of student life.
