Upcoming open days

Employability

You’ll start preparing for your future from your first day on campus and will be given endless opportunities to boost your employability, from experiencing life in another country to getting hands-on experience in a professional environment. Our track record for graduate employability is one of the best in the UK, with 96 per cent of our undergraduates and 97 per cent of our postgraduates in employment (or further study) within 15 months of graduating (Graduate Outcomes survey 2020, HESA). We’ve also been awarded ‘University of the Year for Graduate Employment’ in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide for 2022.

Caring Campus

We do everything we can to make you feel safe, settled and happy during your time at university. We want our campus to feel like home and for you to quickly become part of our close-knit community. Our staff always put our students first. No matter what you need, there’s someone at Surrey who can help. We have a dedicated student advice and support hub at MySurrey Hive, friendly International Student Support teams, and students on placement have access to support and mentoring from their teaching staff. We’ve even created a dedicated space on campus, MySurrey Nest, where students can focus on their wellbeing.

We’ll be providing all of our undergraduates and postgraduate taught students with free digital copies of their essential textbooks. This is part of our commitment to making university more accessible, enabling you to learn in a more digital environment.

Student Life and Sports

Life at university is more than just lectures and coursework. We make sure that your university experience is as varied and fulfilling as possible, providing you with endless opportunities to make the most out of your time with us.

If you’re interested in sport or want to keep active during your time at university, Surrey Sports Park is home to a wide range of first-class facilities, including an eight-lane Olympic sized swimming pool, 120 station gym and 10m high climbing walls. If you just want to have fun and meet new people our Students’ Union also has a wide range of exciting clubs and societies, and organises unforgettable events to ensure you have the best possible university experience.

Courses and fees

We offer 100 undergraduate courses across our three faculties – and if that’s not enough choice, almost all of them can be personalised to your interests and ambitions.

According to the Complete University Guide, our courses are the best in the country for IT Systems and Tourism, Transport, Travel and Heritage Studies. Twelve other courses are ranked in the top 10, from modern languages to manufacturing to medical engineering.

Whichever subject you pick, you’ll learn from academics who are experts in their fields, and benefit from some of the best facilities in the country for group learning, advanced research and private study.

Psychology students, for instance, can conduct experiments in dedicated labs, featuring a virtual reality suite. Language students can practise in dedicated simultaneous interpreting labs, equipped with ISO-certified tools that are commonly used for major multilingual events.

As well as workshops and studios, across the campus you’ll find amazing simulation facilities: a fully operational pilot process plant, wind tunnels, flight simulators, a courtroom and a Clinical Simulation Centre, home to our Immersive Learning Environment that’ll transport you to the centre of clinical scenarios. These provide a safe, supervised environment to put your skills and knowledge to the test. And make sure that when you start working life, you know exactly what you can expect.

See an A-Z list of our undergrad courses and check out the course fees for 2023 entry.

Facilities

Everything you need, all in two places. Our main campus is at Stag Hill, close to Guildford town centre. It’s a lovely, leafy spot, full of space to relax as well as most of our student facilities.

You’ll find a brilliant range of tempting places to eat, drink and hang out. As well as a wide choice of shops and cafes, including in the Students’ Union, there are also facilities like The Snug, a bookable student space with huge comfy sofas, an 85” screen and PlayStation.

Looking for somewhere quieter? No problem. Head to the Library and Learning Centre, at the heart of the campus, which is open early till late 7 days a week. Just want to relax? Choose one of the dedicated quiet areas, like MySurrey Nest, where you can plug in or switch off.

But that’s not all. Our second campus, at Manor Park, is an easy walk away. It’s home to the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences and to Surrey Sports Park – one of Europe’s leading sports venues. Facilities include a 50-metre swimming pool, 120-station gym, three artificial pitches, a climbing centre, 8 floodlit tennis courts, 6 glass backed squash courts, 3 arenas (sports hall) hosting 12 badminton courts and outdoor grass pitches. It’s also the home of Team Surrey, with over 40 clubs for all skill levels and abilities.

Whatever you expect from a modern university, you’ll find it here at Surrey.

Accommodation

There are more than 6,000 study-bedrooms on campus, at least half of which have an en-suite shower and toilet plus unlimited, free broadband. With so much space available, you’re guaranteed university accommodation in your first year as long as your application arrives on time.

All student residences are self-catered with shared kitchen facilities and are monitored by security 24/7. Most flats are mixed gender but we do have single-sex flats in most courts.

There are choices to suit all budgets and requirements. So whether your priority is having the shortest walk back from the bar, or the shortest walk to your early morning lectures, we’ve got you covered.

Off campus, there is a variety of housing in the Guildford area let privately or through the University of Surrey's own Property Management Scheme.

Take a look at the accommodation options on-campus including price bands. For a closer look, sign up for an open day.

Living here

Many people know Surrey for our lovely lakeside campus. But we bet you didn’t know Led Zeppelin played their first ever gig here? Our Students’ Union still plans some of the most exciting events around.

But if hard rock’s not your thing, how about rock climbing? Or rock cakes? There are over 180 clubs and societies to choose from at Surrey, including mountaineering and baking. Find a new hobby, pursue an existing passion with like-minded people – or even start your own society.

We’re also home to the Guildford School of Acting and a Department of Music and Media, which both have outstanding facilities for performing and rehearsing. These can be used by all students – not only those on dedicated performing arts courses.

Guildford itself is a popular place to live, in easy reach of central London (just 35 minutes away by train), Heathrow and Gatwick (both under an hour) but surrounded by beautiful countryside. The Surrey Hills are a brilliant place to explore on foot or by bike: climb Box Hill on a clear day and see if you can identify all fourteen counties that are claimed to be visible from the top!

And because we know university isn’t always easy, you can be sure there’s plenty of support when you need it – from advice on study skills to counselling through the hard times. Plus arguably the most effective university careers service in the country, to guide you on the next step.

What students have to say Q&A

“Being around different people (including both students and staff) from all around the globe is what makes Surrey attractive. Not to mention the astonishing campus, with its abundant greenery and lovely lakeside area.”

JUHI CHATLANI DASWANI

Business Management BSc (Hons)

“Surrey’s made me feel ready to enter the next phase of my life and it’s instilled excitement within me for the future”

RAMSHA SALEEM

Civil Engineering MEng (Hons)

“The music facilities at Surrey are great. There are plenty of practice rooms and three large studios where you can have your music recorded and produced by Tonmeister students.”

AMELIA HOOPER

Music BMus (Hons)

“My favourite thing about the course is the even split between theory and placement. I get to practise what I’ve learnt in my lectures in the Clinical Simulation Centre, home to a fully-equipped ambulance, community flat and wards, to build up my skills before going out on my placements.”

HARRY SHARP

Paramedic Science BSc (Hons)
