Courses and Fees

There are a huge number of undergraduate courses on offer, spanning many academic fields and delivered by the university’s four teaching faculties. Most courses are available to study either with full-time or part-time attendance, and students benefit from placement and work experience opportunities and valuable industry connections throughout the duration of studies.

Students are taught by industry-experienced staff, many of whom are still active researchers in their fields. Students can be confident that they will leave with the relevant skills and knowledge to secure graduate employment, continue their studies with confidence, or simply expand their horizons. Students in recent reviews were full of praise for the level of teaching and liked the small classes that the university offers, allowing for a more personable teaching experience.

Facilities

The University of Suffolk’s highly equipped campuses contain a huge variety of facilities and resources for its students to use, both for academic work and extra-curricular enrichment.

There are a number of libraries distributed across the university's campuses, each containing thousands of books, journals and digital publications for students to use, as well as free and fast WiFi throughout the buildings and expert IT support. The campus includes individual and group study spaces, spacious lecture theatres, laboratories and workshops. It also provides plenty of cafés, restaurants and recreational spaces such as the Cult Café bar on Ipswich Waterfront, to ensure students are refreshed and have places to socialise.

In the past year, the university has opened a new cutting-edge Health and Wellbeing facility, which hosts a huge selection of state-of-the-art clinical simulation equipment, and two brand-new hospital wards. Students benefit from hands-on practical experience with professional-standard working environments in areas such as nursing, midwifery, radiotherapy and social care.

Future plans include a £9.6 million research and engineering centre, designed in collaboration with BT. The new facility will be a massive benefit to STEM students, and the Digitech Centre will be used by information and communications technology students.

Accommodation

The University of Suffolk has a wide variety of on-campus and off-campus accommodation options, which are suitable for varying budgets and a range of lifestyles and needs.

Athena Hall is the on-campus halls of residence on Ipswich Waterfront and is just a ten-minute walk away from the town centre. All rooms have an en-suite bathroom and share a kitchen with other housemates. Students can also choose to pay more to have a studio flat to themselves. All of the halls of residence options at the university are equipped with Wi-Fi, and benefit from the fantastic social atmosphere of the student community.

Students wishing to live away from the campus are supported by the university's Accreditation Scheme, which helps find approved privately owned properties that meet individual students' budgets and requirements. This assistance can range from help in identifying suitable properties to arranging viewings, or support with paperwork.
