Where is Teesside?

Teesside University is in the centre of Middlesbrough in North East England.

Our campus is easily accessible by car or train and is first a ten-minute walk from Middlesbrough railway station. Teesside International Airport is 13 miles away.

Our area

Middlesbrough is one of the best value places to live in the UK and your money will go much further here than in lots of other university towns and cities. Just a few minutes’ walk from campus you’ll find quirky cafes, chilled out micro pubs, vintage clothes shops and an emerging collection of independent bars and retailers. The usual high street shops, museums, sports, restaurants, cinemas, clubs and parks are also close to hand.

Soak up some culture

There’s always something happening in the Boro – whether you’re up for a couple of craft beers at a local gig or a relaxing afternoon strolling around the modern art gallery, mima. There’s also a rock café, seasonal festivals, and some great theatre venues offering drama, live music, comedy and classical performances. Teesside's own Students' Union is a hive of activity and offers massive club and theme nights, live comedy, live music and live appearances from huge celeb names.

Eat, drink, chill

Independent cafes, artisan and vegan-friendly bakeries, delicious cocktail bars, stylish charcuteries, cosy vintage teashops, locally sourced produce and a dry bar are all just around the corner from campus. You’ll also find plenty of international restaurants offering flavours from around the globe. If you need a quick snack during the day you'll find the Students' Union shop stocked with treats - you can get hot food and sandwiches too.

Coast, countryside and the great outdoors

Teesside is an amazing place if you love being outside. Whether you want a lazy day in the country, a stroll along the beach or an adventure on one of the largest expanses of moorland in the UK – it’s all on your doorstep as a Teesside student.

Middlesbrough is a gateway to top surf, pretty coastal towns, wild expanses of countryside and the amazing Cleveland Way. Think ice cream, paddling in the sea, fish and chips, BBQs on the beach, wellies and pub lunches. If you like adventure, check out the Tees Barrage and enjoy some white water rafting on the River Tees (look out for friendly seals).

As well as the great mix of places and activities around the Tees Valley, Teesside University’s Students’ Union is a big part of student life at Teesside - and it's right on your doorstep.
