  • University of York

One of the UK's newer institutions, the University of York opened its doors in 1963. Situated a mile away from the historic city centre of York, this university is part of the Russell Group.

The pretty campus has more than 30 departments and centres, offering a huge variety of subjects to be studied, with the life sciences courses highly regarded. Despite its relatively short 50-year history, it's produced alumni such as the editor of the Sunday Times, John Witherow, plus MPs Oona King and Harriet Harman, among others.
