De Montfort University
De Montfort University is based in Leicester and originally was founded as a school of art back in 1870. It continues to offer a wide selection of arts-based courses in addition to qualifications in the likes of law, health, and technology. The Which? University guide has named DMU as one of the most creative universities in the UK for two years running – ranking it alongside Oxford, Cambridge and a handful of others. De Montfort also leapt 16 places in the latest national student satisfaction survey and are now ranked in the top 40 by the Times Higher Education magazine.
Leicester is a diverse and vibrant place to live; a recent £3bn regeneration has transformed the city into a lively hub of entertainment, shopping and culture. DMU is unique in that it is a campus university - meaning all buildings and accommodation are within one central area - that is situated right next to the city centre, which means that all the great things Leicester has to offer are right on your doorstep.
The university gets its name from Simon de Montfort, a 13th century earl of Leicester who is widely credited with founding the first ever Parliament.
