York St John University was originally founded as a teacher training college in the 19th century, and it wasn't until 2006 that it was formally granted university powers.

Since its inception, it has expanded the courses it offers and in addition to teacher training you can study for qualifications in arts, humanities, business and health.

Based in historic York, the modern university is a landmark and is wedged in amongst the culture, greenery and activities of this vibrant city.
