Well they haven't explicitly asked for them, they just merely said you can send any forward should you want. I don't want to give an answer on how much they affect the final decision as I honestly do not know. But saying that, the vast vast majority of people get in without references if that says anything?

Hey man. Just wanted to ask- you mentioned that interview performance is the sole indicator for an offer once you get to that stage. UCL have asked for references... do these also play a big part in the decision in addittion to the interview?
