haha! it definitely is! going to go out a few times me thinks & just enjoy thee freedom!

I do own a macbook pro, but not an actual imac. I also bought some software which we will be using perhaps for the course too such as final cut pro & final cut pro x (yes, it set me back a huge lot), adobe suite (you can get that for free so easily ). I personally like working better from home, i get a tad distracted when people around & since college was using macs, i decided to invest. It came in very useful tbh since dont think i would ever have completed the college grade without it. They are so much faster then windows & if you ever get behind with coursework (which im sure you wont tbh) then having your own macbook does come in very handy. The computers are cheaper then the laptops, but i just got a laptop due to being able to carry it around & all. You can get educational prices too if going to university so an imac should only be around £800 and something i think which is a good price really , i know how to get most programmes for free for the mac so if you did decide to buy & wanted FCP or the adobe suite for example, i shall help you get it .

I also paid an extra £300 for insurance plan, so if anything does go wrong with it (which is very rare) they will fix it. I was unlucky enough for my harddrive to break, so i rang them up and unlike windows where they fob you off and will not fix it, they fixed it and replaced the harddrive! They would only be on the phone with you for a minute & then they will say 'you want us to ring you so your phonebill is not expensive?' They was very helpful & actually knew what they was talking about!!

Personally, I think it is worth the investment but like you said, they are expensive - & especially when going to uni, you could do with all the extra money you can get! Plus, i know the mac suites are open nearly 24/7 so if needed to finish work to late nights, you can

Sorry about long reply but hope it helps

yeah, definitely ! I'm really looking forward to freshers now, it's gonna be so much fun
i was wondering, do you have a Mac computer? I have to buy a new computer before I move, and i'm not sure wheter i should buy Mac concidering that we'll be studying media.. i've talked to a few people who've said that there are Macs at university that we can use for our school work, so they said we didn't need to buy one unless we wanted to work from home. But i'm not sure.. I don't want to buy one unless we really need it, it's so expensive
