I haven't done the exams, but I've got full marks in all of the controlled assessments. Sorry, I can't give you my practice essays because they're on paper and I just don't have enough time at the moment, sorry x

Yes I'm doing the relationships cluster too. You seem very good at this. May you be able to provide me with your example essays for Section A and B? This would help me hugely. Thanks. And also, I suppose you got A* for the exam? How many marks?

Sorry, I forgot to ask which cluster you're doing? I'm doing relationships, so have discussed love and its steadfast nature - you may be doing place or conflict, for example. Good luck! x

I'd love to help you, but I've got far too much on my plate at the moment! I'm helping my aunt who's doing her thesis at Oxford on the Brontes with her research, and I've got fourteen exams to prepare for!

Keep focused on the question; if you are asked to explore feelings, don't go off track because you simply don't have enough time! You only have 45 minutes for section A and 30 minutes for section B so keep your answers short and just analyse and evaluate. Say how the writer is successful in doing what they do and what the effects are on the reader. Look at the form - (not the shape). For example, is it free verse or a sonnet? To obtain high marks, always use the correct terminology (eg. stanza not paragraph, or if it's a sonnet quatrain is preferred to stanza generally). Do a close analysis - look at individual words rather than two or three lines of the poem. Look at the rhythm - is it iambic? This normally heightens the steadfast nature of love or the certainity of something happening. Anapest is usually comical - but not always. Does the poem's use of pronouns change - ie. Rossetti changes the person's address to Maude from 'sister Maude' to 'you' which accentuates her anger and fury.

Looking at the Poetry Forums, I understand that you have taken the Literature Poetry Exam? My exam on that is coming up and I was just wondering which exam it is that you took? Is it the AQA English Literature Unit 2 (Section A 36 Marks and Section B 36 Marks) Poetry Across Time?

If so I was looking for a bit of help maybe since I heard you scored 18/18. Well done!
