Its been plaguing me for some time! I've been to manchester quite a lot, and I get a really great vibe, but its just so close :/ I actually dont like brian cox haha, which is quite funny! But yeah, the deparment at manchester seemed ace, didn't see much of UCL because of the terrible tour guide. But you're right, london is just on another level to the rest of the country

You actually have a really hard decision there. I can't say a huge deal for Manchester, what with being a southerner and having never actually been there. But my ex went off to Manchester last year and he loves it, he also said that there's a big music and cultural scene. Plus, Brian Cox lectures there sometimes! But like I said as far as physics departments go there's very little to differentiate by. Only reason why UCL is perceived as better is because it gets a lot of recognition internationally. They're both top class. You'd probably grow to love whichever one you chose. London has a lot to offer.

Thanks so much for your advice! (did indeed mean manchester XD ) The prestige was what was confusing me, its still a very hard decision. I preferred manchester's atmosphere when I was there, but UCL is in london, which is fairly exclusive to live in :/

    Hello

I'm assuming MCR is Macnchester? If it is, then I think my choice was much easier! Given that UCL and St Andrews are polar opposites and it literally came down to; sleepy scottish village/London. Yours are both big cities. I'd say that UCL is more prestigious as a university, despite probably being about the same as MCR on the physics side. And it probably has better graduate prospects, but ultimately it's about which course you prefer and where you'd rather be living.
