No, it's nothing like The Bell Jar. Some of it is a rant, yeah. But she does make some very valid points, and it's great she's getting young girls to call themselves feminists. If you're not a feminist, you're for oppression imo. At first it got amazing reviews but more people are willing to admit they didn't like it. Read it and decide for yourself.

Sounds interesting. Is it a bit like the Bell Jar (i.e. does it tell a story or is it just a rant)? Have to say, I have seen some pretty lukewarm reviews of it on amazon. I will probably read it eventually though.
Thanks. -
'How To Be A Woman' isn't actually a book about how to be a woman, it's about Caitlin Moran's personal experiences of becoming and being a woman like masturbation, menstruation, childbirth, marriage, abortion, miscarriage, being obese and losing weight and in between she questions society's attitude towards women today and why we're expected to look and act a certain way and the ridiculousness of removing pubic hair for example as "we're essentially paying to have a vagina." She also encourages women to call themselves feminists and change its negative connotations.
Basically.
It's very funny and moving but her writing style can start to grate as she RANDOMLY STARTS WRITING IN CAPS.
But it's a great book imo and everyone of both genders should read it. -
What is 'How to be a woman' actually about? I mean what is it?
