Hey thanks for the reply; another question though:

With regard to the material you had to study prior to the interview, what was it like? And what kind of questions were you asked?

    Thank you!

The 3 days I stayed in college were so much fun I had two interviews, one with two people from the Oriental Studies department at Queen's and one with four people from the Oriental Institute. For both of them I was given some material to study for 20 minutes beforehand: a short piece on politics for the interview at Queen's and then a Japanese poem with translation for the Oriental Institute. For both of my interviews we started discussing this material and then talked about my personal statement, A-level subjects, poetry, Japanese culture, etc. You might be called for interviews at other colleges after this, but I wasn't.

Not sure what to say about the PS in general  I'd be happy to answer any questions if you have any though. Good luck!

Hi, I noticed you got an offer for Japanese -- congratulations! I'm gonna apply for Oriental Studies Japanese for 2013 entry, and I just wanted to ask what the interviews were like? What kind of stuff did you talk about? And do you have any tips for a decent PS? Congrats again
