O.k, great, sounds like some good advice. I was wondering, when I've come closer to completing a draft, would you mind taking a look at it?

Just show you can look at things from different perspectives, or through the eyes of different disciplines.

I don't really know much about architecture but if there are any debates or issues in the media at the moment it's good to be up to speed on them and have a view. Take the different subjects you studied and apply them to the subject. If you can show how you used what you learnt at A Level to further your passion and understanding of Architecture they'll be impressed.

The main purpose of the PS is to get you to interview and to give yourself a good platform for discussion when you're there so show your enthusiasm above all else and make them want to know more about you. The best piece of advice I ever got was that they're looking for people they want to teach.

O.k, thanks.... Could you give me an example of what you mean "like to look at things from a different angle"?

Personal statement? Just make it clear how much you love your subject. Say what you've read/ studied and how it influenced you. Make it clear that you're intellectually curious and like to look at things from different angles. Let them read between the lines, don't tell them how brilliant you are.

I'm reading History. Out of interest, what is your explanation of the failed bomb attack yesterday? More indoctrination by the CIA?

You keep coming out with that "ad hominem" line but it really doesn't give you any more credit intellectually in my eyes.

I'm guessing your A levels are all science and mathematics based because you seem to have no real idea about structuring an argument and using supporting evidence correctly, which I'm afraid scuppers you in intelligent debate. Then again why should you, you're going to be an architect and people will pay you to design buildings not to give them your take on politics and current events.

I'm in next year. tbh I'll have better things to do and smarter people to debate then. not student room plebs who think they know everthing. Saying that if you do get in then maybe I'll take you more seriously
