call them wednesday and say what I said to and say you are resending but will mark the envelope re-send (this is actually the only one you will send) and you should be fine.
It is a bit naughty but it nearly always works.

Thanks for your reply, so you know my hall of residence is John Cass, so should I call them on wednesday? Im planning to send it on that day but as i said im concerned it won't arrive in time.

what you should do:

call the Uni on Wednesday and say you are concerned as you haven’t heard back from them. say that you sent the forms back as soon as you received them and are just calling to confirm your place. They will obviously say that they haven’t received anything. Then you say OK insert a witty comment about royal mail/fail and say you will send another set, and could they hold the place an extra day while you send them recorded delivery (costs about 70p more)

of course this has ethical issues and will bring a touch of bad Karma but that you may have to live with.
