I've received an offer letter from sussex university for the course Evolution and adaptive systems. Before applying I did had a dilemma in choosing btw Human Computer Interaction and Evolution & Adaptive systems. Now after receiving the letter... I went through the complete course materials of evolution and adaptive systems. now i feel like Human Computer Interaction course suits me better. Is there any option to change it??? Or shall i proceed with what i have now....?

Also the university representative is visiting my state capital coming 24th and i'm planning to visit him regarding scholarship... Shall i consult him regarding this matter?

I should be coming to Sussex in September as a postgraduate. I'm thinking I'd prefer to be in halls as it's better for meeting new people.

Can anyone recommend any halls in particular? Or give me a quick low-down on each?

Ideally I'm after somewhere with a good work/play balance and an en-suite. A double bed would be ideal too (too tall for a single), but I'm not sure if Sussex 'do' double beds...

Any help appreciated!

Hey. I'm just going to jump into this topic. I'm french and I'm going to Sussex next year as part of the ERASMUS program. I will be 21. From what I read, I understood that most of the people who are living on campus are first year. It's gotten me kind of scare to ask for an accommodation, because it could be weird to spend the year with first year students... what can you tell me about that?

Hopefully they let me in with BBB or I'm so screwed lol but I'm not relying on that so working to meet my offer still (hence the high levels of stress right now)
I hope I do decide soon where I want to go. I really want to sing frank ocean/miguel songs at the top of my lungs when I walk into campus the first time hahahaa :L

If all goes to plan (hopefully) I'll be going to Sussex this September.Trying to sort out accomodation and I was just wondering if anyone has any advice. I want a really social accomodation but somewhere which is clean and not too grotty haha. Park Houses is one which I'm considering since I've heard its quite good socially but the accomodation seems to vary to large extents; some parts of it look fine where as others look quite grotty. Lewes Court (without an en suite) looks really nice but some have said its quiet and not too sociable. So basically has anyone got any advice because I suck at making decisions and I have no idea which one to pick :L Thanks in advance!

Kent house is also for international students? Wow, then got screwed by dean spears again. Told me that either i can do off campus or stay where i'm hating it.

Depends on the course. Some courses like Engineering for example have like 17 contact hours per week, but others like Humanities courses have between 9-12. Again it would be split 50/50 or 75/25

I would rather walk and save the money for food and booze though :p

Specific question for the gym at sussex university as i am applying there.

Is there a squat rack and a deadlift area? What are the rules on doing things such as cleans and snatches? Also what are the rules on using a lot of chalk, screaming, slamming of weights?

Hey there, basically I like the idea of park houses the most as it seems really social and that is what i like. On the website it shows kent house which looks really nice so I assumed they would all be like that. However I went to the admission days yesterday and when I saw Lancaster house I hated it. I was hoping people could share their experiences of the different Park houses so I can make a decision?

I'm in the same position, park houses was my number one choice from the open day as I viewed Kent and it was really nice, like you I love the whole corridor thing, it's really sociable. However i went back on a visit day and saw York house which was dark and grim with tiny kitchens and low ceilings :/.

I'm hoping to go for Brighthelm instead and still put park houses as my second choice in the hope that there's an additional information box where I can beg for Kent house! It'll still be awesome just living on campus though, despite which acomodation.

AN employer might not, care to break that down to training contracts? Plus if this is one of the six months after graduation things then that's a bad sign as people who are going to be solicitors will still be in university.

Hear, hear. I am all for statistical justification (however futile this may be when attempting to draw conclusions on 'employability' of law schools) however, for this situation there really is no need; and that is said with sincerity and practicality and not 'I can't be bothered to use any'.

Apologies, I made the mistake of referring to law firms as 'employers' - i will clarify in the future. Again, another assumption (which i stated in my previous post) that if the OP is referring to reputation there is little in it. Neither a magic or a high-street firm are likely to view either 'better' than the other; After oxbridge and then the top 10 this is when distinctions become blurred and one merely recognises universities as a solid RG/1994 group uni (if that)... If you can provide any statistics showing otherwise, or even another interpretation I will be happy consider it.
