Guys i've been a resident of Mill point in Manchester for 3 years now, i'm about to have my fourth year here!

I was speaking to the manager of mill point and he told me there's a few more places to fill up Mill point to the brim! If your needing student accommodation, want fun and want a great year at university halls.. Mill point is definitely the place to be!

The place in my opinion is superior to all other halls i've seen for such and for such a good price, the staff are great - they get things done for you like straight away, unlike some of these other halls like what my girlfriend lived at which took over 3 days to change a frigging light bulb!!!!!

If you guys wanna ask me anything about Millpoint feel free - i'm hopefully going to be helping Millpoint with you guys to help you move in, sort nights etc etc.. So fire away?!

We always have a massive courtyard party when people move in so everyone gets to meet each-other! Its stupidly clean, safe and awesomely social! Come on guys, i want another fantastic year like the others soooo come to Millpointtt! :D

Hi, would you recommend Millpoint for next year? I've heard its a lot quieter this year, less social alot of internationals and the rooms did not fill up? Thanks!

I wouldn't say the surrounding area is anything to worry about. I've lived in Mill Point this year and haven't experienced or heard of anybody being the victim of attacks. The location is really good, about 2-3 minutes walk from Manchester Piccadilly train station. All Saints Campus is about 10/15 minute walks. Although I haven't experienced any attacks around the All Saints campus, exercise caution as I've heard about people being mugged by chavs on bikes who then peddle away. However, this is rare I've only heard of it happening a couple of times.

Mill Point as a place though, I found this year is not what I expected it to be. The rooms are quite spacious and smart, and it's a luxury to have an en-suite. However, I've found that the place seems to lack an atmosphere. The majority of students who seem to live here are international students, many of them who do not speak English. This is reflected in the fact whenever Mill Point put up a notice for students, it is first written in Chinese and then translated to English. It seems a bit ridiculous to me.

Also, I have found at times the onsite security can be very patronising. To enter Mill Point you must scan your self into the building with an electronic fob, through a rotating gate. However, you are only allowed two friends in with you and you must sign them in a book. If you have more than two friends it can be awkward as the security reserve the right to knock them back, which i've witnessed happen on more than one occasion. This can be annoying because when you're paying over 5,000 a year, I think you should have the right to have who ever you want over! It's extremely difficult trying to organise parties including people off your course who don't live here. I've had the security say things like "We'll be checking up on you and if you're making noise I'll kick everyone out". This obviously isn't something you want to hear on your birthday..

However saying this, some of the security are quite pleasant and easy to get on with. It's quite easy getting things delivered to Mill Point because there is 24 hour staff who will sign for parcels on your behalf. I have to say Mill Point isn't the most social place in the world, so if that is what you're looking for I think you should reconsider. I know for a fact that Mill Point did not allocate all of their rooms out this year, and it does feel that way. You could go round to a persons flat, where out of 6 rooms only three of them were sold. On my first day at Mill Point, I was put in a room with only Chinese students who didn't speak a word of English. It was near impossible to communicate with them and it wasn't what I wanted on my first day. I spoken to MP the next morning and they agreed to move me in the end.

If you have any questions I am more than happy to answer.

Hi, thank you very much for the detailed feedback! I was actually going to book this until I read your review. It seems like it was sociable in previous years but has gone down the drain this year. I have heard a few people say it is quite crap this year. Think I will reconsider now, may go to Cosmo instead. Thanks again, feedback was a great help! :)

I live in medlock.

You are frankly stupid to be paying daft money like that for parking, you will regret parking in there once students start to come in overnight off there barnets jumping on your bonnet! BTW there is free parking they offer round the side...bet you didn't know that!

Stupid to live at Piccadilly Point or even Mill point as they are close to nothing but the train station. Medlock has various pubs, clubs, bars, bowling, pool -snooker, cheap gyms, around the corner from deansgate locks and the Amc cinema. Not far from the oxford road train station! You are at the heart of student living in Manchester!

Internet speeds depend on the times etc peak-off peak.
For WiFi students are bringing there own bridges for this luxory but Unite do offer one called studentcom which in most rooms you hardly get a signal. Recently they have announced a refereshed version for september which will be quicker....:S

As for free TV's with licensing forget it, buy your own and depending on where you put it you will have to purchase a separate TV licence for each room and the communal.

You have just been Whipped! :)

Im currently on an advanced colour course with Toni&Guy. Need models to pass off certain techniques. Services will only be free if model is suitable. Models must come in for a skin test 48hours before we can book an appointment and have a consultation first asking to speak to STEVEN. Only available Mon-Wed for the next 6 weeks (until middle of May). Appointments are either 9.30am or 1.30pm, these will only be booked after skin tests are carried out though.

FULL HEAD PRE LIGHTNER (BLEACH) - Have to have very large regrowth or have no colour on the hair to be suitable.
VIRGIN FULL HEAD TINT - must have NO COLOUR on the hair previously including box dyes or semis as they dont wash out. if all has been cut out then that is fine Colour choice up to you of course, has to be 1 or two shades lighter though.

RELAXER - smoothes out the hair for 60 days. Wont be permanently straight, just smoothes out and de frizzes the hair. Also help devolumise hair if it is quite bushy. Cant have any bleach on the hair though.
PERM - can give beachy waves to longer lengths or more volume to shorter styles. No bleach can be on the hair. Wont look old fashioned, we use modern techniques to keep the look looking modern. Good for straight hair to create a wavy base for helping hold curls after styling.

The 3 main gyms students go to are either the Armatige, the sugden or the aquatics... There are other gyms further out and more pricey though. I have been to all 3 Armitage briefly sugden all of last year and aquatics this year. All 3 have all the cardio and weight machines but i will concentrate on free weight stuff.

Armatige- in fallowfield packed with students, busy all the time ; a lot of waiting around to use things...4 adjustable benches 2 squat racks, a smith machine, a bench an incline a decline and free weights up to 50Kg

Sugden-weight room always busy!! It has 2 squat racks, free weights up to 50Kg a bench an incline and a decline along with 3 adjustable benches a smith and shoulder and chest press free weigh machines.

Aquatics- 1 minute walk from uni place, can get busy but very very quit compared to the other two. It has two rooms one cardio and one weight room. The cardio room has weights in also that go up to 30Kg with 2 adjustable benches, cable cross over machine lat pull down and pull ups/ dips frame...the weight room has...2 squat racks, 2 power cages (effectively better squat racks), 2 adjustable benches, a bench and incline a preacher pad and free weights that go up to 40Kg

All 3 have lots of plates.
Armatige and Sugden are around £120-150 for 9 months the aquatics is £200 but you also get unlimited use of the 50m pool
