IMHO, uni halls are actually nicer in trends if maintainance and who you actually live with, even if private halls do have flashier websites. I lived in Uni of Manchester's cheapest halls UN first year (oak house) and absolutely loved it

I am conducting research into the meanings of luxury and luxury consumption with UK university students. The aim of the study is to find out what luxury means to young people. I would like to explore your ideas about luxury and your experiences with luxury consumption.

If you are an undergraduate or postgraduate student between the age of 18 and 28 years then I would be interested to hear from you. I would like to include participants from a range of backgrounds and financial circumstances. Participation involves a collage construction and interview conducted on university premises, and will last around 1 to 1 ½ hours.

I'm going to MMU in September (2013) to do textiles in practise :) Staying in Cavendish Place with Unite which is a private hall. Really nice and good value. Sharing with 4-5 people. I'm the only first year there at the moment so hope more first years will start booking to live there soon. Its in such a good area as well.. 3 minute walk max to the uni, and its surrounded by other halls. Right near Cambridge Halls, Victoria Hall and Oxford Court.
