Hi there-

I came to Falmouth to study for my MA before getting a job at the Uni- I initially lived in Falmouth as I was based at Woodlane, but as soon as I got the job I moved out to Penryn (partly to escape from the seagulls on my roof!) I personally prefer it in Penryn but it does have far fewer shops etc than Falmouth. The walk between Falmouth and Penryn isn't that long, there are regular trains and buses between the town- so in a way it depends on how much you feel the need to be near a town. Penryn has pubs, a deli, takeaways, cafes, mini-mart, farm shop in the town and Asda, Lidl and Sainsbury's on the edges.

Hope that helps!

Camilla

There could be a number of mitigating factors why some people have AAB/ABB offers. It might be down to subject choice. I know two people who had two different offers for the same course, the one with the lower offer was studying more traditional a level subjects.

I wouldn't worry about it. Just work on meeting your offer. As fantastic as getting that A* might be, perhaps delegate more revision time to your C grade subject. It's difficult to predict whether A*AC will be seen as the equivalent to AAB

It says that they will take experience into account if the person doesnt reach the grades. Basically if they really want you and you miss out on not alot of pionts they will most likely still take you! For the course ive been offered the grade offers range from BBB - AAB however people in the past have got in with somethink like BCC purely because the university was impressed with them (personal statement) and experience on what they have done over the years etc that makes them really want them.

I would not stress about it until the actual results day :) You can only do your best

Cook & Llewellyn are two blocks in a residential street (with a few houses/flats that are nothing to do with the uni in between the two). They have 40 people per block, so 80 people overall - but they're right across the road from Birks, where there's obviously lots of people living, and where there's a shop etc.

St David's is made up of basically two little streets of houses/flats that are all University-owned - no separate living rooms, but the layout of the houses is quite nice and it generally seems to have a pretty laid-back vibe to it. (Now it's getting sunnier I keep seeing people with the patio doors open, sitting out on the grass). It's bigger than Cook/Llew (I think a couple of hundred people live there), and right next door to Point Exe, which is also student accommodation (plus quite a lot of the houses along Bonhay Road are student houses), so quite a lot of people live round there. It's a bit closer to town, and there is actually a free minibus that gets you up to campus in the morning if you can't be bothered to walk (but it's not actually far). There are a couple of little shops nearby - and obviously it's handy for the station!

Does that help?

Thanks that's really helpful :) its getting exciting!

Salut,

Merci pour ta réponse, tu me rassures haha.

:)

I would say it all depends, say there were 50 places and they made 50 offers, and 45 people got their offer, they would rather have you who narrowly missed your offer than someone from clearing. But if there are 50 places and they made 60 offers, and 50 people got their offers, you won't get a place.
Hi student room fam! Can someone assist me in...

Hi student room fam! Can someone assist me in answering this question. Or just a brief essay plan? Thank youuuuuu

To what extent do you consider Lord Diplock’s categories for grounds of review (irrationality, illegality, procedural impropriety) in the House of Lords judgment in Council for the Civil Service Unions v Minister for the Civil Service [1985] AC 374 to be relevant and applicable in 2012?

If I was to answer this question in an exam, I would be on the side that it is still relevant and applicable today because it is still very much used in determining whether or not there is a ground for judicial review and I would also talk about the possibility of a 4th ground which is proportionality review? However, I don't know how I will further my argument....

Any ideas on how you'll go about this question..
Anyway, there's two things I came here to say.
The first is that the zombie society is the best society you could ever join, because it is FUN. Seriously fun. Fun like you've never had fun before. I cannot sing the praise high enough.
The second is that there is a facebook page lurking about which is unofficial but has second years, first years and a bunch of freshers on there from Fal and Exeter uni.
I'll just leave it here to casually undermine the ambassadors scheme, sorry Laura ;)
