I did CPS and Bail in section A, and did Strict Liability and Stat. Interpretation in sec B.

Annoyed because I knew SL was going to come up, I revised it so heavily, but when it came to answering it, I drew a blank. Could only remember the main points.

Overall the paper was good, and I agree with the time. I finished with 30-45 minutes left.

How much raw marks roughly do u guys reckon will be enough for 72 ums outa 80?

You're welcome Matthew. It was really beneficial to the unit 4 exam as you quite rightly said, the videos helped put the topic in an understandable and attainable way to allow me to answer a question in the right way. Also on the website, he has made powerpoint presentations which are equally as important with the explanation of case law too.
I am glad someone else was able to benefit from this resource too!

Were all of your results exam based of did you have any coursework components? My 1st semester was all cw based bar one class test which was worth 15% and then 2nd semester all exams. I found that due to the amount of work required I neglected one of my modules which I paid for come exam time and criminal I found there was just SO much! :(

That sounds like a good plan with the prep for next year, what modules do you have at level 2?

I have the previous edition of Hudson's textbook and I thought it was a horrible, unedited mess. I have no idea if the current edition is better, and haven't read the summary book. My university has Virgo as the set textbook, until last year it was Penner

100% - so let me just get this right, in an answer, you go through the rules of negligent misstatement - establish the duty of care with that, then go on to talk about general negligence and all the rules etc?

, for the contemporaneity rule I firstly talked about mens rea and actus reus of a crime occuring at the same time. I then gave an example of R v Ismail ( throwing of acid in his girlfriends face - he threw acid at the same time as he intended to harm her). Then I said that the principle here is a person can not be guily of an offence for performing an act that causes a previously desired result.
I then brought Fagan into the 2nd paragraph.

I don't like how public it all is. The media immediately portrays accused people in the worst possible light and sometimes they turn out not to be guilty at all.

I start Year 13 next year and I have a few problems. I only picked three AS Levels at the start of this year; Law, Politics and Philosophy. I struggled with AS Law, due to my memory and the fact that it's awful. But, as I only picked three,I have to continue all of them. BUT, I could drop one and pick up another as. This depends on whether A2 Law is very tricky.

Well, my teacher says we're doing Law of Torts; OCR. Is this hard? Bear in mind my memory is awful and I did struggle with AS. Not greatly, I mean, I understood everything, but when it comes to cases and things it gets hard. Is it worth me dropping it?

Hi guys,

This is my first year doind AS Law (AQA)...I was just wondering if anyone can tell me if it's possible for me to achieve a grade B or even A overall for AS. In unit 1 I got a C which was 63 ums marks (I think), does anyone think or know if it's possible that in Unit 2 if I did well I could achieve either grade this summer? even a low A? possible?:/

I have done no access course for law and have got offers from KCL, Birmingham, Exeter and Manchester.
To be honest I think my strong personal statement, LNAT and work experience (CPS) are what got me an offer, not my grades because they were AAD.

Can i just clarify this, when I was choosing my uni for law I also thought about Birckbeck as i had heard they were targetted by MC firms and silver circle ect also it is a UoL degree with entry req's of AAB and classes in the evening so work at law firms could be done in the day so it looked like a strong choice. However instead of taking word of mouth I emailed Hoganlovells and a few other firms and I got the same response from all of them, that is Birckbeck is not a targeted University but instead they make visits informally. I also presented them with my other choices, being Cardiff, Liverpool, York and Exeter and out of the 5 only Exeter was targeted.
I felt the need to highlight this as people oten confuse what is meant by targeted, I am by no means looking for an argument over this...it is what it is. But I did like the course, the structure, the prestige of UoL on my degree and it took alot to turn away and take Exeter. In conclusion out of what has been presented I believe Birckbeck will be the most helpful in your career, also you are a mature student and will find the class to be of similar standing. Also since it is a UoL college you can use many of the facilities of the other UoL colleges i.e UCL,LSE, QMUL and SOAS this is is because Birckbeck does not really have a large campus or facilities and instead shares them so it will be like you are doing a degree at UCL which is always a bonus :grin:

Well, no. On the implied term theory, the finding of 'void ab initio' is simply the application of a condition precedent. There is, on that view, no room for any external doctrine of mistake -- if there is an offer and acceptance, and no condition precedent is tripped, there is a contract. I don't see why this should be problematic.

Why would Art.3 be breached? Why cant it be derogated? Why is Art.5 enable to be derogated if requirements of Art. 15 are met? Are there any significances for the derogation?

From what I recall, most of the claimants in these unincorporated association types of case (Maga v Birmingham Diocese, Thomas v NUM, etc), just sued all of the trustees, the association itself, and anyone else they could think of because even their lawyers presumably weren't sure who exactly should be liable. But I think the right answer is that the trustees are liable, and insurance against vicarious liability is their responsibility, but they might be entitled to be indemnified out of the trust fund in some situations too?

No I was offered a contract at the universities employer fair, it's all about being confident!!!

In one module handbook it says this for my uni: In order to achieve a pass in this module, a student is required to achieve a minimum overall mark of 40% with no less than 35% in each assessment element weighted 20% or more..

So does this mean that the minimum I can get in the exam is 35% to pass the module?

I've got some written essays which got 29-30/30 on Fault, Justice and Judicial creativity.

"If X were to be charged with an either-way offence, the magistrate's court would issue an arrest warrant if X was not already in police custody. A duty solicitor will be able to advise X at the police station. A Plea & Case Management Hearing will be conducted at the Magistrate's court where X will enter his plea. If X pleads guilty, a pre-sentence report may be produced to advise the court on sentences for X. The case will then go for sentencing or referral to the Crown Court for sentencing. If X pleads not guilty, there will be a Mode of Trial hearing (possibly at a later date) where the courts will be advised on the complexity of the case and whether or not to refer it to the Crown Court. X will have the option to chose which court to have his case heard in, as they may want a trial by jury. The case will then be adjourned for trial at a later date whilst both sides prepare a case. During this time, X will be granted Bail under the Bail Act 1976 unless the courts have reason to believe X will interfere with the justice process. X will then return to their chosen court for trial.

If you like, or if the scenario allows, you may also wish to mention that Police can give Bail under the Criminal Justice Act 2003.

im so worried i cant remember if you had to put a candidates signature for this ocr english legal system exam on the 14th may does any one remember? and if you did have to sign it and i didnt does this mean my paper will be disqualified? ???????
