You'll be sent a big envelope of details the day results come out in August which will include your room number, there are 3 first year accommodation blocks (so you will be placed with first years). The blocks are all broadly similar facility and price wise but you do not get to pick your room in first year, it's randomly allocated. News to me. At the moment there's a weights room which is pretty small but has everything you need and also a treadmill/bike/rowing machine. So my parents are students from a couple of years above (they've actually graduated now :( ), my husbands and wives are my group of friends who grouped together to get assigned children :) and my kids are my kids!
