Its really not a matter of age but a matter of...

Its really not a matter of age but a matter of emotional maturity and responsibility. You come across as mature enough and responsible enough to be thinking about contraception etc...

I wouldn't let your family's ideal guilt you out of doing it. You're entitled to your own mind and opinion and so long as you're being responsible its your decision, not theirs. If they have a problem with it, its their problem, not yours.

The one thing I would say before you have sex is educate yourself. Make sure you know how your body and your cycle works, and make sure you know exactly how the pill works, what it does and how it might affect your body. Look into all forms of contraception, don't simply assume the pill is best... and there are many types of pill. A big thing is do you think you'll be able to remember to take the pill every day at the right time... if this might be an issue, consider the patch, which you only have to remember to change weekly. Also, its a good idea to have some lube to hand, especially for the first few times.

If you can't talk to your GP, there will be a sexual health clinic somewhere.

He doesn't want to hurt you - this is good. While you're having this issue, it's time for a talk about what you both enjoy. This can, and often does, change over time even without something like this.

You're worried, which suggests testing is the thing to do. Several supermarkets do 'own brand' ones, which can be very cheap. A quick look finds twin packs costing £1 at one place, for example. (Pregnancy tests cost pennies when you buy them in bulk!) They look for a pregnancy-specific hormone, so they're not affected by the ones in the pill.

it could be normal if you haven't had sex before. If you have never had sex then its is just because you have a tight hymn (vaginal wall) and when your climaxing its putting pressure causing it to open which is why it hurts, but this is only if you haven't had sex. If you have had sex then my best guess would be cramp maybe? Sexual inactivity can easily cause cramp when your erect and having orgasms as its causing your muscles to contract. (Think of it as when your leg gets crap and you straighten it, it hurts more but when you bend it it doesnt)

When I started having orgasms, this is what it felt like - that I needed to pee. I would hold it in, and then get a nice spine tingle. It developed into a more usual 'brain orgasm' feeling over a few weeks or months.
Go to the toilet before you have whatever sort of sex you're having (masturbation?) and stick a towel on the bed. You can then not have any worries that you're going to pee and let go, keeping the stimulation going until you've had enough.

(If you're female, it's just possible that you may ejaculate - it'll be obviously different from pee, clearer, and not smelly. This is one reason for the towel.)

Also the obvious to me is have you just felt your cervix? It changes from soft to hard, and open to closed through the menstrual cycle so it could be a case you haven't felt it like that before.

If you go to check again, wash your hands and have a feel. Cervix's tend to be like a ring doughnut shape but can be tilted so you only feel one side.

If it's still there and you are unsure visit your GP and mention it to them. they will most likely arrange an examination and would be able to tell you if there is a problem. Most likely though you will be healthy. Good luck :)

It was like water, not cloudy like milk but not really discharge either and was odourless, very puzzling anyway.

I need to get more pills from the doctors tomorrow anyway so I will mention the symptoms and if my period hasn't developed by tomorrow morning before I go I will take a test.

I am very stressed so atm I'm going to blame the symptoms on stress and hormonal changes from that until I know otherwise.

I promise no one will care and people will...

I promise no one will care and people will understand :). Take loads of ibuprofen, maybe try using tampons next cycle, they're really easy I promise. I'm assuming you're still at school? I'm 20 and by this age I don't care at all. It happens to everyone, by the time you get to uni people are far more open about things. Boys who get freaked out need to man up if they ever want a long term relationship/wife! Bring plenty of pads, you can take ibuprofen/paracetamol together, say 1 ibuprofen then 2 hours later a paracetamol and then 2 hours after another ibuprofen (as long as you're not asthmatic/allergic) if you get terrible period pains. If you feel really bad your GP can prescribe you with stronger painkillers and tablets to help, there's always help available. The pill can also make periods lighter and you can always skip a period too.

What about those heat patches you can buy from Boots if the pain's bad? Exercise and endorphin's are meant to be good for period pain.

Just remember half the worlds population between the ages of about 12-50 have periods. And about a quarter of them might be on at any one time, that's a lot of people haha.

We all have the fungus that causes thrush living on our bodies, it's usually at a level that means it doesn't show any clinical signs of thrush. If we do something to upset the balance, such as a course of antibiotics, using a soap down below that upsets the natural balance, being immunosupressed and so on then it can grow out of control and cause the signs of infection. This is regardless as to whether you're male or female. You can get thrush rash in other parts of your body as well as your genitals, moist folds of skin or orally are quite common places to see it. It can also be caused by having sex with someone showing clinical signs of a thrush infection, but it is not a sexually transmitted infection like other diseases like HPV, herpes and so on.
Everyone has their own place on the scale of risk and reward. Most of us are in the middle somewhere, accepting that intimate contact with other people carries a risk in exchange for the benefits of it.

There are things that can be done to reduce those risks, from using condoms, through the vaccine against HPV (it'd really would be worth you having this), through trying to ensure that your relationships are with people who are honest about what else they are doing and with who. But, yes, they can't be eliminated.

I suspect you would also benefit from some counselling around some of these fears. Are you in the US (my guess from some of the language), the UK, or elsewhere?

I can't say I agree with this whatsoever. In fact I think what you're saying is ridiculous! Why can I not enjoy masturbating while I am taken? Also I think its worth mentioning that my boyfriend loves to watch me masturbate! Masturbating is fine whether you have a partner or not! I am perfectly able to have both sex and masturbate when I like to! Unless your partner doesn't agree with it, then both sex and masturbation are completely separate and you shouldn't feel like you should stop masturbating because you are in a relationship. Sex is great. Masturbating is great. Combine the two: mutual masturbation is also a somewhat common activity for couples!

It varies for me, sometimes I will masturbate frequently but I won't tend to leave it more than a month and I have boyfriend :) I started when I was around 11/12 I think! :$

Just do what you feel is best! :)

I was thinking of the guys point of view "EMasseY" I did stop masturbating when I started having regular sex with my girlfriend then wife, but she admitted like you she did both, she liked having sex with me and confessed that she still masturbated, she told me the exact thing that you said, she liked to have "the best of both worlds" I admit I was a little annoyed at first but realized that actually females need it both ways and after that it was OK. She told me she could not leave it more than a few days and also like you she started when around 10/11.

Hey
I have been on the combi-pill and POP pill, and my body hated both of them so I know your pain!
I doubt you will feel ill seeing as it has been a twelve hour change, which by that point your body counts it as a day (hence why if you take the pill after 12 hours from when you should have taken it you aren't protected for a week).
If you forget to take the pill and it makes you feel ill then maybe you should consider a different type of contraception? Maybe something more permanent that doesn't require thinking about like the injection, an IUD/IUS or the implant. If you want to ask more about long term contraception you can PM me :).

Did he say why he does that? Even if he thinks it's normal, there must be an underlying reason why it's normal for him. That's what you and he need to find out. Sounds like abuse issues to me but he needs to realise that for himself. It's a difficult one. Unless he tells you he was abused, I would maybe just continue like it's a non-issue or if it really bothers you, then I think you're within your rights to tell him it scares you when he seems scared. Make it clear that you're happy to talk about it more. That puts the ball in his court, and he can decide what he wants/needs to do. It's likely to be a very sensitive issue so tip-toe :)

My guess is that it's a coincidence. Your guilt about doing this means that you're blaming everything you notice on it, but if a condom was used for the oral, there's no obvious route for a infection to have occurred because of this and none has been found.

Hey everyone.. I got the implant nearly 3 weeks...

Hey everyone.. I got the implant nearly 3 weeks ago, and i'm due on tomorrow. I have no idea whether i'll bleed or not, that's a waiting game. But today when I got out of bed I had the most horrendous pains.. and i'm not joking, I felt like taking more than two paracetamol and I couldn't stand up straight easily. It's kind of stabbing pains below my ribs, but occasionally in my stomach. I actually got this about two weeks ago, but it only lasted 20 minutes then stopped completely. After 40 minutes now though, the pain has subsided slightly but still hurts a lot. My boyfriend said it might be because of my body getting used the counteracting hormones from my implant and my cycle at the same time, but has anyone else had anything like this? Anyone's reply would be great, i'm in horrible pain here.. I feel like i'm in labour practicing my breathing! Thanks... Lucy x

For how long would you recommend doing the same thing for as everything I've read suggests variation :/ thank you for your advice though!

well, i guess what i'm trying to say is once intensity has started to build up, it's not brilliant if the girl then switches to a less intense method. that's essentially the equivalent of a guy slowing down during sex because it's starting to build up for him.

variation is fine when you're teasing/playing, but when you actually want to get to the finish line, it needs to be a fairly consistent pace and sensation.

again, as 'sex tips' aren't allowed, i'll just say what i'd do if i was a girl in this position. i'd do the variation etc to tease or excite, but then i'd try with a fairly consistent and intense* method in the same/similar way for a few minutes. my prediction is that the guy would be much more likely to climax.

*as i said in my previous post, hand and mouth in tandem works well for me (and speaking to male friends about this sort of thing, it's been a source of agreement).

I had a circumcision for a tight foreskin a...

I had a circumcision for a tight foreskin a couple of years ago and I know a couple of friends who had it done for the same reason. It's pretty unfomfortable for a week or so afterwards but apart from that I've had no problems and I'm glad I had it done. It can also look pretty bad until the swelling goes down but it looks fine in no time.

I wouldn't worry about the operation in terms of your penis being small when it's flaccid. Circumcisions are extremely common and simple operations (as operations go). I'm a bit of a 'grower' as well and there was no problem there.

I know it's a weirdly emotive issue (I understand that adult and child circumcisions are different matters), but I wouldn't listen to scare stories or extreme opinions on either side. What I would say is talk to your doctor if you have any concerns whatsoever and, I know this might not be possible, but I found it very helpful to talk to people who'd had it done. I had a million questions about it.

Personally, I'm happy to have had it done and I've had no problems.

Basically, I have seriously bad period pains. The sort where I take paracetamol and ibuprofen, curl up in a ball with a hot water bottle and cry. On a few occaisions i have thrown up, but generally i just feel absolutely sick to my stomach, shaking with hot/cold flushes and unable to move. I also get diarrhea, which makes the pain particularly intense. Recently (past yearish), its been spreading to my lower back too, and ive had to buy another hot water bottle because that gets unbearably sore too.
I can't remember when I started getting such bad pain - it definitely wasn't immediately but i think it was within 4 years of starting.
I also have always had really heavy periods. I used to have to stay at home because at school I wasn't able to go to the toilet every hour. It has got lighter since about 17, but i still need to plan my day around where the toilets are and if ill have time to use them.
I also get really bad PMS - really sudden mood swings, random crying, food cravings etc.
Over the past few years I been getting period cramps from about 2 weeks leading up to my period, these are pretty much exclusively if i do exercise. Like, i cant go to the gym, or go jogging because as soon as i stop i will be doubled over with cramps that last about as long as i was exercising for. They even come if i do anything like stand up quickly, or walk up the stairs. They get worse/more sensitive to triggers the closer to my period.

Ive been to the GP a couple of times and they just said it was stress, and prescribed me mefenamic acid but i got some nasty side effects and it turns out im hypersensitive to NSAIDs, so im now on tranexamic acid and co-dydramol (which doesnt really work).
None of my family have any of these problems at all, and im really scared it could be that ive got something causing all this and i could be affecting my fertility. I just dont want them to think im a hypochondriac, or im worried theyll think that i think i know better than them seeing as im a med student.
I just want a bit of advice - im genuinely worried, but my doctor said it was stress, so im also scared about going back and coming across as whiny.

Thanks.

hi, im 17 and i got really ill dead on this date last year, i thought i had a stomach bug but then the pain was not in my stomach it was my abdomen, i was being sick; fainting so i decided to go into a hot water bath, i then passed out because of the pain; my friend came it and called a ambulance and dragged me out, i was on gas and air and had morphine pumped into my body; i could not sit up or anything! it was hell! i was 16 at this time and i had to stay in hospital alone!
i woke up at 6am to find nurses pumping stuff into me that i didnt know what it was, about 3 minutes later i rang the buzzer for help.. my throat swelled up & it took them 10 mintues before getting to me. i then stopped breathing and was on oxygen as they put penecillin in me when im alergic to it.
they still didnt know what was wrong, they said it was my appendix. my ovaries and i got stressed out. I also found a lump in my boob. that scared the hell outta me; they said its nothing to worry about.
they told my mum there is a chance it could be ovarian cancer; i was devistated but didnt believe it. it couldnt have. so they sent me to birmingham womens hospital for tests, they told me i have a STI; i laughed so hard!!! all tests came back negative and i discharged myself at 3am.

it didnt return till november; it hit hard. It hit that hard i had to have a laparoscopy; this is a small operation to see inside your womb, they was looking for endo, they found little trces but nothing bad and also scar tissue which they didnt know what was from.

i had to hastle my doctors! make sure you see a female!
and dont give uppp!!!!

So I'm in Wales and went to my doctor nearly 3 months ago to check to see if I have a condition called frenulum breve, he confirmed it and said he'd put me in for surgery(frenuloplasty) and I'd have to wait for the dates which could take a couple of months.

I rang the enquiries phone number today to see if I could get a status of what's happening just to stay in the loop. I've been told I'm actually on a first appointments list which I imagine is for a consultation which means it'll take even longer.

However has anyone here ever had it done recently? If so, how long were you waiting for it to have it done on the NHS? Or if you had it done privately, how much did it cost? And if anyone knows how it could be cheaper via health insurance, I'd love to hear how. If you didn't understand what a frenulum breve is or anything I said, google is your friend.

I've posted about this on another forum but I don't know, maybe I'll get different answers here. I had a miscarriage just over a month ago and I thought it was starting to get easier, but this week I've slumped again and I just feel useless and lost and I feel like I have no right to grieve - I was only four weeks - but I am grieving so much. I'm only 18 and I also feel so much shame over being pregnant so young, and guilty because at times I've tried to look on the bright side that I wasn't ready when so many women struggle to have kids.

My partner's been really supportive, helping me through it - we decided to give it an identity and that we are going to refer to it as a baby and as "he", instead of "it" or "the miscarriage", because that was making things difficult. Only my partner, my best friend at uni and one of my lecturers know; I don't want to tell my parents but people suggested it might help, I don't really know what to say. The slightest thing is setting me off and even though I know I'm not ready and I want kids in the future but not for at least five years, I have this overwhelming urge to try again because I want that feeling again, knowing I was pregnant was frightening but it changed me completely overnight and I allowed myself to get a little bit excited and then it was ripped away from me. I'd really appreciate any advice, but please don't anyone tell me to get over it and move on because I've tried and I'm finding it really difficult.

Big hugs. I had a miscarriage almost exactly a year ago, the day before I was due to have my 12 week dating scan. It's a horrible, traumatic experience and I know how difficult the aftermath is. Even now, a year on, I still see pregnant women or newborn babies and think 'why me'. I get angry seeing people smoking and drinking whilst pregnant and having healthy pregnancies. I get flashbacks of being rushed to hospital needing a transfusion, the excitement of my first scan, seeing a heartbeat flickering away. I was the same as you, it was a surprise, I was only 19 but I had just begun to get excited about it all. You're lucky you have a supportive partner, it sounds like you have a great relationship. You have to remember that although it's hard to hear, these things do happen for a reason. It's not nice and it's not fair, but nature does what it needs to, you know? I beat myself up for months thinking that maybe it was something I did, but I know now that there's nothing I could have done more. I quit smoking, drinking, ate all the right foods... But there was obviously something inherently wrong with little bean, and that's okay. I've used it as a wee kickstart for me to get doing all of the things I thought I wasn't going to be able to do when I found out I was pregnant. I'm off to work in America over the summer, have gotten my studies back on track and I'm really happy. I get the feeling about you feeling like you want to get pregnant again, but remember that even if/when you do, it won't ever replace him. You'll always remember him but I promise as time goes on, it does get easier.
I'm really sorry for your loss, pop me a message if you ever want to chat. x

Yes I went today. They are not going to give me a swob atm but gave me a cream to insert for 10-14 days every night to treat what I and they think is thrush from symptoms described. So far I already feel a bit relieved. I just hope in long run I can be relieved from the pain during sex as its getting me rather down. I advise going. I actually went to the nurse practitioner who was really understanding and was good talking to a woman rather than a man.

I had a really bad time of it when I first had it put in. I bled constantly, really heavily for nine months :/ (Sorry for being grim)
Finally, I was put on a hormone replacement therapy to stop the bleeding (it took three months to work). The implant itself didn't make me depressed or anything else that I was warned about but the constant bleeding did, it really impacted on my self-confidence and my relationship.

Now though, I've been bleed free for nearly six months and it just makes life so much easier without having to worry about taking a pill everyday or use condoms.

You might ask why I didn't have it taken out? My doctor said because of the cost to the NHS I had to keep it in for six months :(

If after a week the symptoms haven't changed at all, run to your GP or GUM clinic. Fast man. Actually, you could even book an appointment now just in case and then cancel it later on if you dont need it. That's what I would do but keep in mind I'm no doctor (yet).

Hello - I stopped taking rigevidion and the symptoms gradually cleared up over the next few weeks.

I went for tests at the stoke clinic - all came back clear. I had an MRI scan - this came back clear. I've seen a neurologist once and am going back again in a couple weeks. So it doesn't seem like any long lasting damage thankfully

All my GP's believe the severe reaction I had was due to changing over to rigevideon. If I were you, I would stop taking it immediately and go tell your GP.

I can't see how rigevidion is the same as microgynon. I had no problems for 10 years on microgynon, and within just under 2 months on rigevidion I had every symptom listed on their side effects.

Now, I am no longer allowed to take any oestrogen based contraceptive, so have just started taking Desomonno a mini pill progesterone only - so far so good!

Good luck, It will get better i'm sure

You're probably just being paranoid right now. If it's only been a few days then it is way too early to be having symptoms, you wouldn't even have implanted yet.

I've missed the pill before, cerazette, and it can make you have pregnancy symptoms so don't panic too much if you notice any.

You've risked getting pregnant in those few days though so if you're still worried in a couple of weeks take a test.

You did the right thing! :)

It is unusual to contract HIV from oral sex, but recently infected recipients of oral sex will have a rather high viral load (same if they've been infected for a while and it's undiagnosed), so this could increase the likelihood of getting it via unprotected oral sex. It's still not as high risk as other unprotected sexual activities, but it's not entirely unheard of either.

However, you're clear so just use it as a learning experience! Minimal risk is still a risk, so the key is just being careful. :)

No, you'd have to be extremely unlucky. To be honest, you're probably more likely to get pregnant if you have sex taking the pill properly. The spotting could be anything or nothing. Its probably just that you're ovulating or going to have a period soon. Relax. If you are pregnant, there isn't much you can do about it yet, but you're probably not, and stressing will only make you more likely to be late.

Apparently the patch is similar to the combined pill, which my doctors don't let me take because I suffer from frequent migraines. I've had a family member and a friend who both had the coil put in and they were both in agony during the process (my mum said it was worse than childbirth), and I'm needlephobic so the injection and implant definitely aren't for me. Condoms definitely seem like the safest option right now!
Cerazette is supposed to be one of the more reliable mini pills so I supposedly have a 12 hour window to take it, but the packet says I should take it at the same time each day. Hopefully I should be alright. Some women have got pregnant while taking the mini pill at the same time each day so I guess it's just really important to remember to take it roughly at the same time.

I could (almost) always come more than once from the same erection when masturbating when I was in my teens, so I expected to be able to do the same when having sex. Using condoms meant not, because of the need to change after coming. When I started having sex in a relationship without them, it didn't happen either because of the huge change in friction as semen gets around the vagina. If I come outside however, I still can come more than once.

So yes, it depends. Some can do it, some can't. You'll probably find it harder as you get older.

For the time taken, it's a matter of experience. You're more and more used to coming that way that adding condom doesn't matter as much as it did.

That research is rather dodgy, I'm afraid. I'll see if I can find a good critique... but basically, it's a very small actual difference, it's quite possible it's 'just' a delay effect (the main studies were all terminated early), the rate of people suffering major side-effects is about the same as those claimed benefits, it's no good if they turn out to be bisexual or gay, and if they ask you, you're still going to tell them 'use condoms' whether or not they've been circumcised! All this means that it shouldn't be a surprise that if you look at UK population studies, there's no significant difference in STI rates between cut and uncut men.

To answer the original question :) it's because their health insurance system will pay for it to be done. (Seriously!) When the NHS was founded, it decided that it wouldn't do it for free, so a lot fewer Brits are.

I learnt a huge amount about being sexual with women from being sexual with men. One of the most important was the concept of 'my turn, your turn' - stopping pretending that everyone likes the same things the same way at the same time, or that there's a single script that works for everyone.

So, I would say, yes, talk to him about what you both like. There will be some stuff you both like lots - hooray - and some where one wants it more than the other. Then you make a deal: sometimes you get the kissy, slow love making, and sometimes he gets to bang hard and fast. It needn't be literally alternating, but aim for roughly equal over time. It can be in the same session or in different ones, it's up to how you both feel.

Plus he may get to appreciate the more subtle delights of being tender and there may well be times when you just want to be had senseless.

Having said that, hardly anyone uses them for cunnilingus. If she has a yeast infection, you could get that but a) you're likely to know if she does (smell / taste / her saying!) and b) you can get those anyway without going down on someone (ever had a white tongue?) If she has herpes, you could get that but a) you probably already have one strain (ever had a cold sore?) and b) you're likely to notice sores when she's most infectious if she doesn't say.

For most other things, it'd be difficult to find a serious risk. You will never get HIV this way. Doctors are still arguing whether bacterial vaginosis can be transmitted this way, for example.

For rimming (licking her anus), the risks are somewhat different and there is an assortment of bugs you can get this way.

Clingfilm works, is a lot easier to find, vastly cheaper, can be torn into more useful sizes, and tastes better. If you don't use it for this, it's more useful too...

Hey OP.

First I want to say I had the EXACT same problem. I have vaginismus (still do) where the muscles clench when things try and insert down there, honestly the nurse couldnt even fit a cotton bud up when i went for some check lmao!

But anyway, me and my new boyfriend took things real slow (fingering hurt) so we in a really weird way, sort of went straight for sex lol but we started off just rubbing together, and after about a week, he would start going 'in' but slowly and only like an inch etc. And when it hurt id tell him to stop and hed just stay where he was until id relaxed and he could go in more again.

Then after a few times of doing this, each time hed go further in and it would hurt less. Then we had full sex, which did really hurt, but i just kept telling my head ''RELAX, this is normal, its nature, it shouldnt hurt'' and this helped a lot, and my muscles relaxed a lot, and it hurt less (still hurt, but was enjoyable too).

Hey
I had primary vaginismus too - for two years. Most of the time I was able to have sex but it was SO painful. Even inserting tampons hurt so much.

Using lube and taking things slow helps, I also would use a vibrator which made the it less painful, but it still wasn't the way its supposed to be. After 2 years of this struggle I bought some dilators online - came in like 6 different sizes, from small to large. And whenever I was on my own I would use them (with lube of course) to stretch my vagina and get it used to something being there; started with the smallest one, I'd leave it in for like an hour while taking my mind off it, read a book, watch a film, whatever. Then when the pain went away I'd move onto the bigger size.

After about a month of regularly using those dilators, I can proudly say that my vaginismus is now cured and I'm finally enjoying sex (probably more than I should, but hey you can't blame me after 2 years haha). I honestly advise anyone having pain problems to invest in dilators, they're the best thing I've ever bought, I'm so happy!!!

PS If anyone struggles with painful sex (whether its vaginismus or not), I'm not a doctor but I've been through it all, I know how frustrating it can be and I managed to cure it myself so if you have any questions leave your e-mail or whatever and I'll contact you! Youre not alone! :-)

Hi, I've recently had a new implant in after having it for 3 years, I honestly recommend it as I have had no real side effects except i'm sometimes moody ;) I think it depends on the person and whether you have side effects such as heavy periods, spots, weight gain etc. But once its in you don't have to think about it until it needs changing, which also did not hurt. I'd say go for it!
Good Luck in deciding :)

Thanks everyone.

Thanks everyone.

I went to test yesterday and then realised that over the year and a bit of being on the pill, my period has come on the Sunday night/Monday at the latest after stopping the pill the Thursday previously (sometimes the Tuesday at a push), so I've not actually taken it yet - well before I realised this I did take two, but there wasn't enough pee to have any result, be it positive or negative, to show.

I was talking to my boyfriend last night anyway and said I'm getting random bouts of tiredness and feeling sick (not actually relating the two) and it was annoying while I was trying to study (last uni exam ever, wooh!). He said something along the lines of "I've not knocked you up have I?" and I said "I don't think so, by tomorrow evening (meaning tonight) I should be crying over sad tv adverts, spooning my pillow while shoving ice cream into my face with a shovel". So I think we're on the same page with it now.
Plus, he also said he wouldn't run away and I know he wouldn't - we're both single parents and he's raised his daughter alone since she was just over a year old, so I know that no matter what the outcome was, or what happened to 'us', then he wouldn't shy away from responsibility - he's a good one.

I've realised that the earliest I could probably test would be Friday/Saturday anyway, when I do see him, so either way I'll be waiting until then if needs be.

I've still no cramping, no real period 'signs' or anything, so I'm not hopeful it will come - especially as I tend to start in the morning, so no show today either.
I had a little brown spotting last night for an hour or so, and if my memory serves me well, that is what happened with my son before a positive test also. Meh.

OH, and Cherieceag that nurse acted so unprofessionally. I would have reported her.

Yes, it helps greatly if you pull the foreskin...

Yes, it helps greatly if you pull the foreskin back over the head. If you don't, you can end up either having problems putting the condom on or having it bunch around the foreskin 'during'.

Typically, the edge of the foreskin can be pulled down further than the edge of the head. I wouldn't use the word 'flabby', but looser than 'just barely fit'.

Yes a condom will desensitise things, but intercourse shouldn't involve much friction, whether that's because of her wetness and/or using lube. Try using some lube (if you're not going to be trying condoms, olive oil is fine) when you try touching the head of your penis and you'll see.

It sometimes feels like this forum could have the subtitle of 'foreskin issues' :) so you'll find lots of other posts about this. Most have had tighter ones than yours, but there's plenty about stretching so it becomes looser.

I had this problem. It was just agony. Everyone...

I had this problem. It was just agony. Everyone automatically assumed it was vagimitius but my bf never had trouble entering me which would be an issue if vagimitus and vagimitus is rarely an issue if a girl hasn't had a repressive upbringing or been sexually abused so that was ruled out. A few months after I lost my viriginity I went to the gyno. It did hurt when he was examining me but only a little.

Thing was my skin was just so sensitive that anything would make it react. So lubes and condoms would feel like my skin was burning and even without it would be absolute agony. My poor bf would be in the middle of enjoying himself and i'd make him stop cos i was in agony and then cry for half an hour from pain and feeling like i was letting him down. I started avoiding anything intimate. Thankfully he was very patient with me.

Do you know what ended up helping? A tiny tube of gel. I went to the gp and asked to see a gyno and he gave me a tube of anesthetic called lignocaine to put on five minutes before intercourse and it really helps. For the first time i actually enjoyed sex. I don't know if it will ever go away and once it wears off i'm usually have dull pain for about ten minutes after sex but at least I don't avoid sex anymore and I really do enjoy it:-D My doctor said it should go away eventually if it densentisities over time which may be why it hurts more if its been a long time because its resenseitised.

What I do suggest is go to the doctor and have an examination. the gyno will be very gentle with you i promise. In the meantime don't use any lubes or anything with chemicals in it. It will make it more painful! If you have a long term partner and are on the pill and have been tested for STIs avoid condoms too (obv if you need protection from STIs and pregnancy still use them!!!). Avoid anything that may have chemicals in.

Good luck

OK, if you normally do, this is something to...

OK, if you normally do, this is something to mention if you talk to someone about it.

What's happened to your desire? Are you looking at porn and masturbating because you're really horny or because you're bored and it's what you usually do?

If your GP is anything like mine, it takes about a week or more to get a 'not on the same day' appointment. Make one. Then spend the next few days giving the porn etc a miss, then see what happens the day before the appointment.

Plus in future, if you don't get hard, the best thing to do is not to push it. It took a night of masturbating with a semi-erection to put me off doing so. I took forever to come, and could barely feel it when I did. Ejaculation without orgasm is not worth it, so ever since if I recognise that I am not really into it, I give up and do something else instead. Sometimes, that puts me properly in the mood, sometimes it doesn't.

My experiences with the pill were a bit iffy, but...

My experiences with the pill were a bit iffy, but I started even younger. I went on the pill at 14 to control my periods. I started on microgynon 30 and I had depression, I'd cry for no reason, would still have heavy painful periods and I was a nightmare to associate with. I got put on loestrin 20 but after a while got mood swings. My dr said it was the oestrogen or something so think put me on an oestrogen free pill called Mercilon, that one was the best pill I ever had. The pill is different for everyone, what side effects one person will get, another person won't. There is the worry of the hormones and the pill can slightly increase your risk of one type of cancer, and decrease your risk of cervical cancer I think? I'm now on the contraceptive implant so it's hard to remember.

It's really best to find a contraceptive best for you and if you're really not comfortable with putting other hormones in your body, don't do it. It's your body and baring in mind if any side effects do occur you're gonna be the one going through them until they leave your body (which can take some time, took a few weeks for me to go back to normal after coming off my other pills).

If it's causing a problem then see a gyno. Might be an infection or might be something else.

Personally I've always had pain when having sex. but mine got worse during sex rather than easing once he entered and meant I couldn't manage more than a few minutes. It turned out the skin around my entrance was just too sensitive and an anethetic cream has eased the problem. Sometimes it can be something so easily controlled. But you shouldn't still be having pain after 18 months. see your GP and ask for a referral to the gyno

If all those tests are negative, then I would say you are not pregnant... The implant stops periods for most people I think, or at least makes them very irregular. I mean, 5 tests is a lot.

If you really cannot settle then I'd go to a doctor and check. The home tests clearly aren't settling your mind - one more won't make a difference! Hormonal contraception can make your appetite increase, so is it possible you've just been eating more? Or just imagining that your stomach is bigger?

Poor you :(
Whatever you do, definitely definitely do NOT pour hair remover cream down the hole - it's a sensitive area as you know and hair remover cream is quite abrasive. I realise it's embarrassing to talk about, but maybe you could write down your problem and take it to the GP?

Hope you get it sorted - try and find a GP you get on with, or a practice nurse - and go from there. Remember they have seen, and heard, it all before. You won't be the only one with this problem and you certainly won't be the last.

My GUM hands out contraceptive pills if you walk...

My GUM hands out contraceptive pills if you walk in and ask for some. They don't give you a prescription, just a pack, but it gives you a month's breathing space to register with a doctor. I think different services have different policies so you might want to call up a few local ones and see if they can help you.

Actually we're fairly close to each other so you might be able to use my one, 56 Dean Street - you can call them on 020 3315 6699, they're really good, will give you clear directions to the clinic and everything. It's in central London (Soho) so a bit of a trek but it's really good and uber professional with wifi in the waiting room. All of their services are walk in if you're 19 or under, some of them still are even if you're over 19, others you need an appointment for, I can't remember which one contraceptives is.

Good luck!

If you're worried about gaining weight with some other methods then go to a family planning clinic (there's a search thingy on the FPA website) as they will know most about possible side effects. Tell them you're worried about gaining weight but also sometimes miss pills and they'll be able to find something perfect for you. Weight gain isn't guaranteed, but you could get an IUD which has no hormones and therefore definitely won't interfere!

You can get tested for whatever you want. :) Ask specifically for an oral swab as not all places give them automatically.

Oral sex is relatively safe so long as you haven't got any open wounds in your mouth, but it's not 100% safe. You don't get STDs from every single unprotected encounter.

If you have anything chances are you'll take a short course of antibiotics and that's the end of it. You might not be able to have sex while you're on the medication, but afterwards it should be fine. The chances of having caught something are pretty low though.

I'd recommend talking to the people at the clinic and seeing if they can give you any additional information.

Exactly what I was hoping to hear. Thanks again.

Please can you go into more detail about how the doctor helped your boyfriend, I think I have a short frenulum and possibly a tight foreskin too. Thanks in advance.

    Spoiler:
Show

I just want to warn you first that it probably is not the best thing that you want to hear, but this is just my experience and doesn't necessarily mean the same thing for everyone so please, please see a doctor if you are able to.

So my BF had a tight foreskin for most of his life up until 2 years ago as you know. Sex was getting more and more painful for him, and eventually he had no choice but to get it sorted out.

At first he was prescribed a steroid cream to help with stretching, but the GP warned him that it may not work. It did not help much, and eventually he had to get a partial circumcision. He did not lose all of his foreskin - just the tight bit that was causing him pain. There were complications a few weeks after the op which meant that he had to go to A&E as he could not pee, but again this was sorted.

We could not have sex for a few months, but the good news is 6 months later his penis was completely healed and we were able to enjoy sex once again, and he no longer has phimosis which is exactly what he wanted - it just took him a bit longer than we had thought. But this was only, I imagine, because he left it so long without telling anyone. If you are able to get to a doctor soon then they will advise you best what to do. Remember what happened to us is not medical advice, just our experience and may not apply to everyone else.

STDs are not a moral judgement. You don't get them because you did something "wrong". People get them because they're unlucky or sometimes because they're careless. It doesn't make you a bad person.

Also...

Always always use a condom with people you don't know. Even if they say they're "clean", firstly, not all STD clinics test for everything, they might have picked something up since their last test, they might have had a false negative result come up, or they could simply be lying.

Fluid bonding with someone is a big deal. Don't do it unless they've had a full sexual health screening and haven't slept with anyone but you since that screening.

I had nexplanon put in a couple of weeks ago :)...

I had nexplanon put in a couple of weeks ago :) There is a whole list of possible side effects of Nexplanon, including- irregular bleeding, no bleeding, lighter bleeding, heavier bleeding, very painful bleeding, spotting of blood (when there is a tiny bit of blood at unpredictable times) an increase in apetite (which may cause weight gain), developing acne, existing acne getting worse, headaches, mood swings, nausea, stomach cramps, achey boobs, - you may get one of these side effects, you may also get none at all, or have many of them. I think it is very much an individual thing.

Personally, so far the implant has been pretty good for me. The only side effect i've really noticed is that my skin isn't very nice- quite spotty. No bleeding at all yet though, which i'm pleased about. It has only been 2 weeks since I got mine though, it is early days.

I think they say that side effects generally wear off after the first few months. And about the weight gain thing- I think it may cause a teeny tiny weight gain in some people, but on the most part i think people blow it out of proportion. Doctors would hardly give us a contraceptive that was going to make us all obese! And anyway, i think women suit curves :) not fatness, but having some flesh about them. Too many young girls put pressure on themselves to look a certain way and its not fair. Be happy in your own skin! :)

Well, given that my height was 5ft 3 at the time, my periods dropped sometime between losing my previous weight (not sure what it was) to 39kg at the lowest. Obviously I was dangerously underweight, but even when reaching the "normal" BMI they still hadn't come back. It wasn't until I reached 57kg (8.9 stone) that my periods returned. I was lucky that they did.

Seeing as my weight fluctuated afterwards as I was not yet clinically discharged, the doctors could figure out that I would have to be at least 55kg in order to have regular (if any) periods.
