Doing a comp today made me think: would I pass a drug test? I take testosterone (for real medical reasons and prescribed by my GP) but my hormone levels would all be what you'd expect. So if they check hormones I'd pass but it'd be if they detected some trace of the testosterone- is that possible? If I were to compete in powerlifting they do tests on a few people in most comps but I'd rather not have the hassle of getting medical exemption if I didn't need to.

OK session today. Think I am still not 100% energy-wise. Hopefully I'll peak just in time for Paris.

Snatch
35 x 2
40 x 2
45 x 2
45 x 2
48 x 2
51 x f,1
51 x 2
45 x 1
48 x 1
48 x 1
48 x 1

The technique is there, but the speed from the knees upwards isn't.

Clean and jerk
Was going to try doing 1 power jerk followed by a split jerk, but my brain couldn't cope so ended up switching back to split jerk only.

45 x 1
50 x 1
50 x 1
53 x 1
57 x 1
61 x 1
65 x 1
65 x f clean, 1

Bar was too far in front in the failed rep and I couldn't rack it.

Snatch pulls
45 x 3
50 x 3
54 x 3
57 x 2
60 x 2

Front Squat
70 x 3
70 x 3
70 x 3
70 x 3

Then did some facepulls and foam rolling and got my hips mashed with a broom handle.

If I went for a 1RM my upper body/back would get crushed. All tightness goes when it's too heavy. Who'd have thought you need good upper body strength for squats. I didn't know/understand that before.

OHP 47.5kg 2 4 3 3 3 45kg 4 4
Squat 90kg 4 100kg 3 3 3 4 3
Barbell Rows 60kg 5 8 8 8 8 8
Speed deadlifts 100kg 3x3
Abs wheel 8 8 8 7 7
Traps 20kg/hand 12 10 10 9
Pullups 5 5
Pistols 2 3

So OHP has gone to **** again. Shoulders probably a bit tired from PBing incline on Wednesday but I should at least be getting 50x5 which I got months ago now but it just isn't happening. I'm just gonna up the frequency of this lift somehow. It NEEDS to improve.
My form has got worse. Elbows kept flaring. I had lots of trouble keeping the forearms straight

Squats were amazing. I got a really nice hip and groin stretch in the first 100kg set that loosened me up. After that my reps were maybe an inch from ATG but well below parallel. Really worked on clinching the glutes on the way up and opening up the hips. Really, really pleased. I felt my hip flexor but the injury is slowly disappearing. 100kg is a great weight for me: not too heavy such that I die in the hole and not too light such that my deficiencies are covered up. All reps paused btw.

BB rows were nice. New exercise for me, I've done pendlay rows a couple of times in the past.

18th May

Strongman Comp

Log from floor: 50kg x5 in 75s
happy with that

140kg yoke then 70kg farmers for 10m each: 30.4s
good yoke, dropped the farmers once because I didn't take a second to really engage my forearms

15" deadlift: 100kg x 18 in 75s
Happy with it but paced it wrong really, should have just gone as continuous as possible cause it was cardio

Medley of 100kg duck walk, 70kg sled drag, 50kg keg to platform, 80kg sandbag to platform all for 10m
Got to keg done in 65s
Happy with that. Sandbag didn't come off the ground, mostly a technique issue, should have been at least able to get it up and moving

Overall happy with it. Went as well as I could ask for. Tweaked back thing doesn't feel great now. Will go to physio if it isn't better once I get paid

BTN press is freaking hard lol. Feel pretty unstable in it but it definitely hits different muscles nicely so I like doing. IDK about the whole flexibility thing, strange isn't it :D.
Bench press
20kg 10
40kg 5
50kg 5
72.5kg 5,5,5,5,5 (5x5 pb)

Clean+strict press(42.5kg)-toes to bar
3-3
6-6
9-9

Knew I wouldn't finish it in anything approaching reasonable time (arms tired) so cut it short early.

Power cleans
60kg 3

calf raises
60kg 25,25,25,25

Super close grip bench (short rests)
then some

left arm curls/presses
hanging leg raises
decline weighted+unweighted situps
to finish :).

Trying to get my chest up, but yeah it ended up making the rep harder, I ended up leaning forward more. i really don't know how to squat, and my main problem is set up: I can get tight and organised from the rack, but I can only keep it for like 2 reps or so before I have to do it again, And I usually feel like I can't get enough air in&get my trunk tight when I have the weight on my back.

Deadlift: 70x3/80x3/90x8
Quite happy with the deadlifts, really focused on squeezing the shoulder blades and keeping everything tight. Felt goof :)
RDL: 20x10x5
Just used the bar for this. I'm gonna try add weight slowly because last time my back fatigued quicker than my hams
Rack Pull: 100x8/x8/x5
Grip was completely gone on the last set. Time to invest in some straps? Traps, rear delts and lats were destroyed after this!
Pendlay Row: 40x8x5

Good work out, my deadlift form is getting tighter

I've never been able to make low bar feel comfortable. Should probably do lowbar considering I can't deadlift.
On that note, I'm currently doing loads of hyper extensions, then move onto good mornings etc with a view to finally deadlifting. It's going to be a long road, but a lot better than rushing it because my lower back clearly isn't up to much.

16/05/13
Hamstrings were possibly a little too...

16/05/13
Hamstrings were possibly a little too sore for this from deadlifting. Oh well, as they say: No pain, no gain.

6 x 200m
Walk back recovery.
I think they were around the 27 second mark. I started to regain some ground though on the the last one though. Possibly due to a combination of the tiring and me changing the way in which I attack the course.

My acceleration isn't particularly good (it's actually pretty poor), but I found if I maintain my speed for the first 100, and kick the second I can regain a lot of lost ground and get a much better time. So will start trying to implement this in future sessions.

Everything below the knee felt like lead. Makes me think that upper legs aren't the issue (they feel pretty fresh), but my calves especially just pack in early. I'm still getting a little pain in the shins so they obviously haven't fully recovered yet, which may have some influence.

Bench: 5,4,3x70kg, 2x67.5kg, 4x65kg - meh... better than last time though. The barbells in our gym vary up to 3kg between them! Pretty sure I got one of the heavier ones today; it's fatter. Plus one of the 5kg plates I used today was definitely heavier than the other 5. Madness.
Row: 5x5x75kg - quite happy with this.
Squat: 3x5x70kg - some reps were good, some weren't. I think I'm getting better at it though. It's not just about tensing hip flexors but bringing your lower back "forward" so you actually use your hip flexors.

So I wanted to log this in yesterday, but my stress levels were through the roof mainly due to my stats exam (which is thankfully over :woo:)

Overall, it was a good session :D

Log in:

Bb Front Squats

12x50kg
12x55kg
12x50kg
(I went back down as someone noticed my form was going a bit funny so I went light to sort it out. I think I'm ready though to increase :D

BB Stiff Leg Deadlifts

12x80kg
10x85kg
12x85kg :D

DB Lunges
Machine Seated Calf Raises

Weighted Crunches

12x20kg
12x20kg

5 Minute HIIT on treadmill
Pull ups - 3

I plan to up my weights on squats and deadlift and my deadlift was okay as I used a mixed grip which really helped me hold the bar easier :yep:

I have 3 more weeks to complete of this stage of the programme. I would take photos at the end and put them up, but I've gained weight due to exams  I do plan to lose this again once I don't have to worry about late nights all the time :yep:

I had jitsu today which went well but I need to get much lower so that I can do the throws better (grading in a month and a half).

Planning to go gym either tomorrow evening or Wednesday morning :yep:

Craig's getting stronger :D

A hella busy week this week, lots of time spent on trains and travelling.

But anyway, had a great ride on bank holiday monday - did 49k on the bike (would have bumped it up to 50 if the traffic was better!) which was cool. It was particulalrly demanding hill-wise, but the weather was amazing so I just kept on going.
I remember at the 42k mark my legs started to feel empty - lesson there on eating!

Gym yesterday and will take my running shoes for the weekend if the sun comes out. Feeling ok, will be in the gym a lot more next week :)

And I've found these things to buy at college called "Tasty Little Numbers", so it's really easy to stick within my calorie limit at lunch time.

Hey there :D

Hey there :D

I'm 15, and I want to go to Japan in the future. However, they're all really skinny over there :o And I don't want to stick out.

I think I'm 153cm tall, and last time I weighed myself in January I was just shy of 80kg... which is very very overweight. and also very unhealthy.

So I want to become more healthy, and stick out less. Call it stupid, but I worry about reaching for my dreams and going to Japan because I just feel so fat... And then I worry so much I don't do anything, and then I feel fat, -repeat N amount of times-

So yeah. I read somewhere that losing weight is like pushing a car up a steep hill. If you keep going and going no matter how hard it is, you will make it eventually. But if you stop, the car will roll back down to the bottom and you will have to start again.

So yeah. Join me as I lose weight
