Thanks :)

Clonal selection is the selection of the correct lymphocyte with the complementary cell surface receptor to the antigen.
Clonal expansion is when this selected lymphocyte divides many times by mitosis. Hope that helped! Also for antibodies all I've learnt is structure and function, agglutination and how that helps phagocytosis, and neutralisation.

I don't quite know what to think of this paper. I found the jan one harder, but that's probably due to the fact that I didn't do much pastpaper practice.. Got a C then. Really hoping for an A.. I think I've got about 45/60 (harsh marking) so fingers crossed :confused:

Hi! Well my teacher told me that it was acceptable if you're pushed for time and wouldn't be able to get it done otherwise- but she wouldn't recommend it. It is referred to as an 'essay question' so I think it's best to write in essay format.

Evolution
Genetic modification
Enzymes
This is only an assumption as these have come up on mock papers I have done.
Remember to especially look at the processes of genetically modified crops/plants as I think the process is quite important!

It asked all the least expected questions that I had somehow managed to miss as I was concentrating on the really hard stuff.. Think it went all right though... This is an interesting one my friend told me about for remembering ventilation movements during breathing:

DIPVA

which stands for

Diaphragm Movements - Flat or Dome Shaped
Intercostal Muscles - Which ones are contracting etc.
Pressure - What the pressure is like inside the thorax compared to outside
Volume - Volume of chest cavity expanding or decreasing
Air Flow - In or out

It says that you should "write in a continuous prose", so you shouldn't really use bullet points. You can use bullet points for all other questions, 1-5 mark questions, but not the 6 marker.

Hi Sara, I have looked at new spec Jan 13 paper (Foundation). Comparing it to past papers, I think that the differences will be in the 6 marker question.( It was leaf structure in Jan exam)
The questions seem to be focused on the science behind the answer you give. Some people have written that the grade boundaries may be lower as it is a new spec and hopefully that will be true.

OCR i'm guessing. Write as much as you can for everyone answer without contradicting yourself. Add every key word possible, don't use words like amount of water, or amount of glucose. It is volume water and concentration/volume of glucose depending on the question. Do as many past papers and read the mark schemes. If you got the answer wrong, learn the correct answer from the mark scheme. Make notes of everything and just always think before you write an answer. Am i phrasing this write, am i answering the question, am i using key words. Thats what i did for it anyway :)
