Don't forget to get in on the halls banter early...

Don't forget to get in on the halls banter early guys!

Woodland Court is full of the landed gentry, recognised by their racing goggles, scarves and leather gloves.

Marlsborough & Solsbury is for aspirational-yet-not-rich-enough-for-woodland students, who are fastidious and don't like talking to poor people.

Eastwood is full of tramps and hobos.

Norwood is the realm of gremlins. You must never go there.

Westwood is where your classic student morons bunk. There are no beds, they simply sleep on top of each other in their gigantic kitchens. The beds are all dismantled in fresher's in order to barricade the road linking Eastwood and Westwood, for protection.

John Wood is simply John Wood. No.

Polden Court is actually an old people's home, but no-ones had the heart to kick them off the campus grounds.

Eastwood is a little further out but you is still alright and way cheaper then solsbury.

It sounds great!

What's the male to female ratio for engineering like?
When I went to Surrey, it was like 3 girls and the rest were guys, but at UCL it was about 40:60.

Also in the accommodation, are you put together with other engineers or is it random?

Again not too sure about civil eng but in mech and elec eng it's like 1 girl to every 10 guys give or take a few. But I wouldn't worry about it, everyone seems to get on well enough.

Also yes they do try to accommodate you either in a flat with or at least neighboured with someone on your course, but it's not guaranteed. You're more likely to get someone on your course in your accommodation if you applied early for accommodation.

Hi Carine Ong,

I work in Admissions at the University of Bath so thought I would post a quick reply.

Westwood is probably marginally closer to the School of Management than Norwood, while Eastwood is the furthest.

However the campus is compact, and to walk the length of the campus (East to West) would probably take no more than 10-15minutes. We therefore do not have an in-campus bus.

All campus based accommodation is within comfortable walking distance of the School of Management (and any other areas of the campus you may need to visit- library, sports facilities, Students’ Union etc).

Please let me know if you have any further queries that I may be able to answer!

Thanks for the advance reply. I am looking forward to the campus life there.

Theres no trouble with rail noise in canal wharf or clevelands, the rail track is pretty much underground so you barely ever hear anything.
Canal wharf is very small, I wouldnt go for it for social life as most of the flats are studios/individual flats.
Clevelands is big and pretty good location, same for pulteney. Both are walking distance to campus but up a nasty steep hill!

I don't know about social work specifically, best bet is probably to email the department, but the earliest you will start is 8.15am, and the latest you will finish is 7.05pm, but these times are pretty rare and unless its a big course I doubt you will get this. Also you shouldn't have anything after 1pm on wednesday as everyone gets the afternoon off for sport.

Hi there anybody on Bath's secondary PGCE course or any alumni,

Am interested in where exactly the placement schools are, and concerned they can be quite a distance from Bath. I have an interview but am not keen on living anywhere but Bath - not sure this will be possible without a car though.

So, I'd love it if you could give me an idea of whereabouts your placement schools are/were and whether you commute from Bath or live there (especially if you are/were MFL!)

Thanks!

As you've mentioned above our placement rates for Architecture are very high.

As an international student you will not find it any harder to gain a strong placement than a UK student, and of course the department will support you fully in finding the right placement for you!

Do let me know if you have any further queries.

Hello everyone i was wondering if one of you could help me out, my offer is uncondiational because i am on a gap year and i just firmed it today expecting there to still be full-ish accomodation choice for someone with an unconditional firm already, however i just tried to apply and realised that marlborough and solsbury and woodland are all taken off the list already due to high demand...
I really wanted something en-suite after sharing boarding school rank showers for half my life and i was really looking forward to it..
anyone else been in a similar situation? know of any other way into marlborough & solsbury or woodland? especially since i already have my bloody place..

Cheers help appeciated in advance x

Non en suite really isn't as bad as you think - I'm imagining the 'boarding school rank showers' to be rather like the ones I had to use while I was at Oxford for interviews which were awful - the showers here are really good and you have lots of privacy and stuff. :)
