Can't sleep and breaking my selfenforced exile...

Can't sleep and breaking my selfenforced exile from this thread...Firstly disappointed that Murray not playing RG but it is for the best hopefully if he is fully rested and well for Wimbledon I think he should rightly deserve the favourite tag and will hopefully prove it.

On another note aDel Potro plus Wawrinkw retirements just take a huge chunk away from tournament and sadly really is a missed chance for players. I mean for Del Potro again injury or in this case an infection strikes him down and I mean with the Big 4 looking slightly shaky I think this will be GS of the dark horses (although still one of Big 4-Murray winning) and del Potro has always been pretty handy on clay remember 08 was it when he played Federer and last year ai think he led hi 2 sets to love...As for Wawrinka this year as a whole seems to be playing amazing tennis so this was his opportunity to burst his way into the party get decent run to the semis or something

As for the draw I think they will ensure a Fedal semi with then a Djokovic-Nadal final
I think also with Nadal yes his run of form has been amazing but judging by his unwillingness to talk about his knees post Rome I think it will be interesting to see how he copes with potentially 7 best of 5 set matches given semis and finals could be full 5 setters for him. Although despite my slight doubts over his ability to withstand that still think he will win RG although judging by how Djokovic sounded during Rome he wants it bad and I think he will really really push Nadal as tbh last year we all knew in the back of our heads I think that Nadal was not going to lose...

Also usual candidates for upsets but I think biggest dark horses are Berdych and Dimitrov Janowicz and mayb Goffin ( where the hell is he? remember his run last year from being lucky loser) and with regards to Rakas 21 is Tomic actually playing RG? I read somewhere a few days ago his dad said he isn't although don't know how reliable that was

For some strange reason getting this strange feeling that Federer won't make it to the semis I don't know to be honest just feel if he runs into Berdych or maybe Tsonga he might not make it but hopefully he will

So yup that's my verbal diarrhoea of predictions most will probably be wrong as for the women's side Serena will win I mean unless she runs into Razzano whatever her name was and has another nervous breakdown or Hollywood comes calling and gives her a role in a movie there is no way she is not winning it. I mean the gap between her and rest if the tour is staggering did anyone see the Sharapova match.. It was so one sided ...

Now back to revising for my exam in Friday, hopefully will be able to resist watching tennis between now and the 2nd Wednesday of RG...

Great game by CSK

I really think that the difference maker is Hussey - gives them a platform almost EVERY SINGLE GAME, then lets the rest of the batting order explode. Also, the good form by Raina is coming at the perfect time.

RCB's main issue is absolute crap bowling, as can be seen from a couple of defeats even when posting big totals. Rampaul is a good addition to the side, and Vinay Kumar has his moments, but the rest have simply been too expensive. That was the same issue last year as well

I don't really understand what happened with Praveen Kumar, he was our best bowler in the England series in England and somehow for Australia he wasn't picked for the series but Sharma was. Bhuvi Kumar has good talent and I can see him doing well away from home, hopefully in SA later this year. I don't know that much about the domestic season but hopefully we can bring forward a few good talented seamers and spinners.

Praveen got injured for the Australia series and then when he was fit again for the home series' against NZ and England they decided to use yadav sharma and zaheer instead, then he almost got banned for raging at an umpires decision so he hasn't had the best luck with the selectors. The good thing about bowlers in Indian domestic is that if they take wickets, they should be good abroad because most tracks in ranji trophy are flat. (only problem is that they often get wickets based on batsmens mistakes and not on good bowling)

Hi,

I'll be moving to London next year to start my postgraduate studies and I'd like to know what are the good places to swim there. I already looked for on google (even before looking for a room...) and I only found private swimming pool so far, which seem pretty expensive. I am already thinking about paying for a membership as I'm a regular user (3 times per weeks to the least) but I'm wondering if there may be good plans for students in the city?

I'll be studying at King's College if that matters.

Cheers.

I'm looking to get into skating. I'll be skating outdoor and the reason that id like to get into it is just so that I have a fun way to travel around and also to keep fit.

After some initial research I've found out that generally online skates are better for skating outdoors, but if it were possible if like to get quads just because they are more visually appealing.

I'd like to be able to travel at moderately fast speeds, again I know inlines are better for this but are there any quad skates that I can achieve this with?

Most of the time they move Franchise's that have been struggling with crowd. Some places are just a terrible market for sports teams. Certain States have more potential than other ones.

Small markets like Cleveland, Portland and that struggle to compete against finances of the bigger markets like Miami, Boston, LA , New York. Owners only care about maximizing profit and your more likely to make a profit if you're winning. Its much harder to attract big names to small markets as well.
Larger market teams can suck for years yet still run on a profit because of the market they're in but smaller ones just can't survive.

Seeing as though amateur rocketry is a sport I thought this would be the best place to stick my post.
My housemate and I are in the middle of designing our own rocket (I know, we need to mature a bit) and I wondered if anyone who has ever done so before might be able to share some tips / advice.
We've already used carbon fibre for the nose cone and have the fins attached - we're having a few issues designing the motor (such as which selection of chemicals to use to ensure decent thrust) and the parachute (fairly heavy nose cone which needs to be blown out by an ejection charge designed by us as well)
It's 3'6'' tall and 6'' in diameter just to add to the challenge btw :)
Thanks!

This is on my bucket list! :)

I figure there are three big problems...

how to make a rocket that is powerful enough to be interesting (eg, carry a small payload)

how to make a rocket that is safe for humans to fire

how to make a rocket that returns to earth in a fit state to be reused.

I found a website that gives lots of advice, and sells components that you could use... http://www.modelrockets.co.uk/shop/c...663429e77c9408
I love some of their jargon (eg, a 'core sampler' is a rocket that returns to earth at high velocity and without its nose cone :rofl2:

Good luck with this!

I mean, i understand you. Sometimes players are...

I mean, i understand you. Sometimes players are awful. You'd think you could do better. The real difference is whether youhave the mental and physical stamina, the cool and composure.

I'm not an expert myself, i'm 19 too. Its just that i had some opportunities to do tryouts and play at league level in my country. (I'm international too). I'm just giving an honest opinion.

Why is it harder at manchester?
Simple, these guys have had high level conditioning and training for years! Coming in late would put you in a major disadvantage. Whereas if you join a smaller one you can challenge for a spot.

I'm a pace whore myself haha. I've done athletics and football all my life. I've had professional training and conditioning whilst still at school. What's your position? I can play all along the midfield even in attack sometimes, but i'm a CAM, pacy CAM. All about strenght, pace and vision :D i think thats my quality, i can read through actions and players.

Sure, hit me up with some questions, i'll give you my opinion :)

think they should have taken flood as another 10, or in place of farrell. the only other option is biggar, and gatland clearly doesn't rate him.

david campese said it - farrell is predictable. he doesn't keep the opposition guessing, or ever really threaten the line at first receiver. done ok playing a pretty limited defensive gameplan for lancaster. he's shown some evidence of better distribution this season, but his playmaking will never be great.

Farrell was clever in that he took risks against Scotland in a match which we were always likely to win, before reverting to his safe game for the rest of the tournament.

I think he should have gone, if Sexton picks up an injury I wouldn't really trust anyone but Farrell's the best of a bad bunch. But there was definitely space in the squad for an attacking 10 who'd take chances if we were chasing a game.

Speaking of which, looking forward to watching Freddie Burns in Argentina, hopefully supported by the likes of Twelvetrees/Wade/May. Could be a refreshing watch, just hoping the forwards give enough of a platform.

As we live in a society where many a student will...

As we live in a society where many a student will find themselves living on bare necessities (or so I'm told by friends), I feel a little help can go a long way.

Now not to say I'm a pro (because I'm not :D), but I'm currently over £1000 in the green from betting on the horses this year. I don't encourage gambling, but if you ever fancy a dabble on the weekend or whatever, just check this thread and I'll post a couple of tips of mine.

Don't feel obliged to stake as much as I do, as I have a betting bank that is larger than others. I started staking £10 max, and as my bank increased, my stakes did. This isn't always wise, but I have confidence in my selections so I just go with it.

Anyway, after all that, the following will probably fall flat on his face, but play along if you like!

Kempton 7:40 - Foxtrot Jubilee (11/4 William Hills)

£25 Win

I'll keep a record of profit/loss, so if any late followers join, they'll know how I'm doing.

Be lucky!

So I been at the gym for a few months now,...

So I been at the gym for a few months now, figuring out my form and what works well for me, and I recently started the Starting Strength routine (similar to a 5x5 routine, mostly compound lifts done in 3x5's for a beginner level) just to give those who haven't heard of it a bit of background. Anyway It seems to be going quite well for the first couple of weeks, doesn't feel too much yet feels like its working, but I have a few questions (1) I'm doing ok with the bench at the minute without a spotter (light weight to begin) but worry I may need one in future when im working heavier weights, would it harm my performance and gains to use dumbbells instead? (2) Any advice or tips anyone who's gone through this or similar before can give to a newbie? ..cheers in advance!

Apart from that it seems common that some of Karatekas break the training up when they get the black belt, because some of them think that they have reached perfection in Karate. And some of them get arrogant and think of that they are strong enough to beat everyone. Grip size 1 are really for mini tennis rackets, and then grip size 4 and above is quite chunky. -Suarez not Neymar. Suarez can cut in from the wide and hes proven talent. For all the potential Neymar has to be class equally he can flop. I do not want to sign him for 50m for him to suck.

- Hummels, Kompany one of those two we need someone commanding for our defense we suck set piece wise and to replace Puyol.

- Inigo Martinez one more centerback. Young and talented.

Suarez won't work out at Barca, just look at sanchez, IMO i think they should move messi back to right wing and buy a striker to put in the middle and i think that would add another dimension to barca and it would prevent teams from man marking messi. I can see someone like Hummel or Vertonghan at Barca as they seem good with the ball and can play as a sweeper, even David Luiz could work

Hi guys, this is my first post here on TSR, been...

Hi guys, this is my first post here on TSR, been on here for a while just never got round to posting a thread.

I've been thinking about getting a skateboard for a while now and I've decided that I want to get a penny nickel board. I haven't skated in years and back then I wasn't great anyway so I'm basically a beginner. Do you think that a nickel board would be OK for a first time skater? I thought about getting a long board as I've heard they are good for beginners but they're just too big to be taking around with me (especially to sixth form, they wont fit in my locker and will be too clunky for class). I only plan on going cruising and I'm not bothered about doing any tricks. Do you think that I should get one or go with another type of board?

Any advice welcome, thanks for reading :)

Also, how long would you expect it to take someone to learn how to skate and how many times should I be expecting to fall over in the learning process?

I am a white belt in Jiu Jitsu and needless to say it's been half a yr and I haven't got anywhere, I can't even do a backwards roll or front roll standing up I always have to be on my knees and they still suck Doing armlocks and disarming people isn't terrible I can eventually do them but I feel so embarresed that I'm so slow. I watch as others move on ahead of me and I've see people come and go. I feel as if I won't advance to yellow belt ever and I know my ego is in the way but I just hate looking stupid in front of everyone, having to do a move 10-11 times until I've got it right, I just feel silly when the sensei says 'wrong' or 'what was that?' I joined Jiu Jitsu to help my confidence grow, having Aspergers and been told by your doctor that you won't be able to do much in your life isn't the best way to start off. I don't know what to do, I'll feel like a failure if I quit but don't think i'll ever progress

jisu is about practice, keep doing till you get comfirtable witht he techniques, build muscle-memory and armbars etc will become instinctive. the best JJ guys are not the fastest ones, but the ones that have the expereince to maneover their oppnent into a postion of submission, or 'feel' when the time is right to apply the hold. Other things will come with training and fitness, flexiblity is the most effective tool in jj, do lots of strecthes, both upper body and leg/groin. Yoga is actually good prep for jj lots of top fighters also do yoga anserson silva, even gsp. its always hilarious to watch some big muscley wrestling mug tap himself out pulling a muuscle trying to land a triangle.

I would have put benteke to win personally.

It's difficult to say but I'd probably go with rallying too. It requires a huge amount of concentration for a very long time. Then again, it could be argued that F1 requires even more concentration and skill because all of the cars are so close together and overtaking each other all of the time. Superbikes also spring to mind as similarly difficult to those two.

Nevertheless, BTCC is still my favourite! :)

I definitely would not recommend that racket, especially to a doubles player. Singles, maybe.

The problem is that although it is a great racket and it's low weight makes you a lot faster at the net and your defence improves significantly, it is just too fragile. Three of the four people I know with that racket broke it on the first day of playing. I'm not even joking.

Minor clash = large crack or even worse.

That being said, it is a good racket in terms of performance and if you are willing to put that much money at risk, go right ahead. I was initially looking to buy it but I'd rather invest money into a more durable racket.

In other news, has anyone been watching the India Open? It's decent so far; disappointing that Taufik lost to an Indian newcomer (he cites Taufik as his inspiration as well :p) but he was very good. He even gave LCW a scare today.
Koo and Tan disappointed again to a relatively new Korean pair but I'm always happy to see newcomers getting their chance.

Oh dear, I'm a doubles player <_>' can't stand singles D: looks like I'll have to sell it then. What would you recommend? Nowadays I find it almost impossible to get hold of a F9, C7 or decent Z slash (I.e, SP or My coded) in the uk now :(

As I said not every match is pre-arranged, especially at the amateur and independent level so clearly it isn't just entertainment. I think that because it is athletic and because it involves a variety of sports and disciplines and because it is still a competition even if it is sometimes pre-arranged, I think that does make it qualify as a sport.

Right guys, looking for someone with a lot of...

Right guys, looking for someone with a lot of knowledge with this kinda stuff I.e. a sports student.

Anyway, my problem is that I do weight training for rugby Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. These training days are broken down into:

Monday - legs and Shoulders
Tuesday - Chest and Back

Thursday - same as Monday
Friday - same as Tuesday

I only train the main muscle groups and I do only compound exercises.

1. Do you think I'm overtraining as I also have rugby training on Tuesday and Thursday?

2. The main problem I'm having is with leg day, after doing squats I struggle to run at training on the Tuesday and Thursday because Mg lower back is really tight, is this lower back tightness meant to happen after squats? Am I doing it incorrectly? Or am I not giving my back enough support? I.e. time to invest in a belt?

If I'm overtraining, would training each of the main body parts once a week be sufficient or would I not be doing enough?

All advice and help welcome!

Cheers
Craig
