Seems like a decent enough evening.
Yeah - overall not too bad thanks, had a relatively long day today, so bit tired - but otherwise can't complain. In terms of life itself, graduated back in July, moved to Manchester, just been looking for jobs (so far unsuccessfully - but have a couple of jobs which I am hoping to hear back from). How about yourself - hows life being treating you?
I know - it has been ages, I only knew you were still on TSR at all from your posts around in TSR Help & Feedback the last month or two! It is good to hear from you
Evening, how are you?
Your display picture is so good,
hi, my post on your thread got deleted
I strongly agree! I don't feel like there's anywhere for me to post now, I only log in once every few days
The allegation that the US funded Bin Laden is little more than a conspiricy theory. It partly comes from people conflating the US support for the Afghan Mujahadeen against the Soviet invasion (which killed more by the lowest estimates than Iraq and Afghanistan put together) with support for the Taliban (who only emerged much later, and were funded by Pakistan, though indirectly by Clinton against Iran) and by extension Al Queda. Al Queda did not even exist during the war in afghanistan, and Bin Laden was little more than a bit player - most books on the conflict don't mention him at all. From my own area of interest, it is often alleged that the USA 'imported' Mujahadeen fighters into Bosnia-Herzegovina to fight the Serbs, and that the US supported Bin Laden during that conflict. This is of course complete nonsense; while it's true that some Mujahadeen fighters fought in Bosnia, even the Bosnian Government did not ask them to come and viewed them as an embarrassment (as this judgement makes clear)
I agree that Saudi Arabia is extremely dangerous, and I deplore our close relationship with the country. Iran promotes regional trouble and instability; it enables the Assad regime’s slaughter of its own people and supports the terrorist Hezbollah in Lebanon. On the other hand, Saudi Arabia’s promotion of trouble extends far beyond the Middle East, through its export of Wahhabi fundamentalism from Pakistan to Bosnia. As you mention, Bin Laden himself was the bastard offspring of the Saudi system.
Thank you, I'm not really that bothered by exam freak's neg, I was more annoyed about the fact that he did not bother trying to discuss the issue with me in a currently active thread, but instead simply negged me and tried to lie about it afterward, (another person negged me as well, though I didn't call them out as they had at least engaged in productive discussion with me over the points they disagreed with)
I think you may have misunderstood, I was asking Stoic if he wasn't a fan of Lennon.
I've seen Kiss about, though I don't know much about him. He seems to be a bit of a moral relativist, no doubt he would praise Hitler for 'standing up to the West'.
cl_steele is an idiot. His posts are nearly impossible to read, and I am amazed that his reputation is so high given the absolute crap that he posts. He condemns Kurdish terrorism, yet praises Gadaffi, evidently missing the fact that Gadaffi was a well known sponsor of international terrorism.
I personally would oppose bombing Iran at the moment, despite its hugely destructive regional role.
I thought he tried to claim that you were abusing the term fascism to suit your own alleged political agenda. That seems to be the theme of the Orwell article he linked. I of course disagree with him, and I believe that the moniker 'facist' is perfectly applicable to the Ba'athist regime (which is to a large extent modeled on German nazism)
I do have to laugh at people who allege that those who oppose the Commons decision are being 'undemocratic' because the Commons represents the British people. They seem to forget that the Iraq war was approved by the same House of Commons, or that the Tuition fees were approved by the same House of Commons.
