  1. Yes
  2. Hi there I just saw your profile on a post....I need some advice...I managed to mess up my jan exams in my final year coming out with average of 55%, my second year average was 60%....my course is split 40:60 between second and third year so what do I need to get to get a 2.1 in this summer's exams?
  3. Hey!
I see we have a few things in common - I'm interested in actuarial careers, and I'm also finding that my maths degree is sooo much harder than my A levels implied to me. How did you struggle through to come out with a first?
  4. Yo. For pensions stuff I really recommend the Current Issues and 60 Second Summaries here: http://www.hymans.co.uk/knowledge-ce...lications.aspx - they summarise recent pensions news/legislation in quite an easy-to-digest sort of way.
  5. Hi please can I have some advice. I saw on a post that you worked out what someone would need to achieve to gain a 1st. I am averaged at 2:2 (55) for second year, what would I need to get for 3rd year to achieve a 2:1 (I know a 1st is impossible now) my course has a weighting of 1/3 for 2nd year and 2/3 for 3rd. thank you
  6. Thank you so much for your advice
  7. Yeah, keeping the choice wide at the beginning seems to be the most sensible choice!
Does the change in degree title applicable to all universities? And will employees know which branch you have chosen for the last years such as mechanics, fluid mechanics, quantum theory, applied physics, statistics, encryption etc ?
  8. From what I understand is that with a maths degree I can turn to the financial world, industrial , scientific, pharmaceutical and education !
But let's for example imagine such a case: someone has a degree in maths+stats and applying for a job in finance and me I have a maths degree with the same result (w/e it is 2:1 or 2:2 etc...) the other person has an advantage then ?
Do you think Birmingham, UCL, UEA and Southampton are good for maths also ? Southampton offers MORSE like Warwick, this course is more targeted towards something like finance or can I shift to the above mentioned fields?
For LSE, it only offers maths with economics so I'll probably apply for actuary !
    Thanks again
  9. Hello, I saw that you are/was doing a maths degree.
Then afterwards, what kind of jobs do you think you will choose because I'm also facing this dilemma whether to choose for maths or coupled with something like stats.
    Thanks for your advice
  10. are u yourself doing actuary?? if yes then can you please tell me details about its eligibility and exams schedule and course difficulty level.

    About me
I'm an Indian who didn't do well in Chemistry and Biology, so I decided to take Maths instead and go for second best as an accountant.

    No, really. I'm not joking.
    Academic Info
    Quite a few GCSE's. Average.
    AS: Average.
    A2: ABC

Doing Maths at uni now, and it's proving to be fun!

Side note: In no way did my A levels even remotely prepare me for university. Not even a little.
    A tribute...
