Why did you want to know anyway?

It's a hard k, and the y is pronunced like "i" in "in". R is rolled, probably a tiny bit more so than the Norwegian one.
  4. And the tantalising picture:
  5. Ingredients

    250g lean minced beef
    3 nests medium egg noodles
thumb-sized piece ginger , finely grated
3 garlic cloves , finely grated
    1 heaped tsp five-spice powder
    ¼ tsp chilli powder
225g pack mangetout or sugar snap peas
    400ml beef stock
3 tbsp light soy sauce , or more to taste
    sesame oil , to serve
red chilli , deseeded and shredded to serve (optional)

    Method

    1. Heat a large non-stick frying pan or wok, then fry the beef for 10 mins until very well browned. Don't add any oil. Meanwhile, boil the noodles following pack instructions, then drain.

    2. Add the ginger, garlic, five-spice, chilli powder and mangetout to the browned mince, then fry for a few mins more until fragrant and the pods are bright green. Splash in the stock, add the noodles, then season with the soy sauce. Pile into bowls (use tongs, it's easier), sprinkling with the sesame oil and red chilli if using.
  6. Hi Becca, I think I've managed to secure myself a couple of 2012 table tennis tickets. Thank you for your words of support and encouragement.
  7. I almost met my hero, Ian Wright, in the summer of '95 (approximately). I was with my family visiting distant relatives in Surrey when they revealed that he lived next door. I was escorted to the front door and waited excitedly for him to answer the doorbell. Unfortunately, he was out shooting a commercial. A bitter blow, Becca, but the story lives on.
  8. Ah yes, I've seen olympic lifting on TV. Looks hard bro.
It's not the Michael Johnson, which I have seen too. I'm sure we've already had this conversation before, but Michael Johnson is so cool. But yeah, this other documentary is mainly set in Jamaica and the guy goes round to his old school/athletics club etc. Bolt himself is not in it for very long but it's nice seeing how much of an inspiration he is to the kids there.
  9. Could you please tell me what you mean by "Olympic lifting" and how it differs from any other kind of weightlifting?
Yep, I favour Federer as well but I'm glad he at least put up a good showing this time round. I have a massive amount of respect for Nadal and the way he plays the game is just astonishing, and brutal (for him just as much as for his opponent).

I don't suppose you saw a documentary BBC did called Usain Bolt: Running Man? It's on iPlayer but I don't know if you have access to that. The presenter had a really cool name - Andy Akinwolere.
  10. I applied for around £650 myself, thought I'd at least get tickets for the table tennis! I think my cousin has applied for some slightly more unusual ones so hopefully he gets something and I can go with him. I didn't realise the athletes had to do their own applications! Lol, crazy.

Apart from the fact that he's the love of your life etc, is him being really hench one of the reasons you got with your bf? Be honest with me Becca.
Oh, and did you watch the tennis this past fortnight? I'm sure, like the rest of the nation, you were jumping for joy when Li Na won in the final.

    Interests:
I'm enthusiastic about languages (come see me work for L'Oreal!). I studied French and Italian at Durham, my uncle studied at Tesco for his A-level and ate lots of spag bol during my second year at Durham. Norwegian Circus studies is what I hope to do later on because they invented the Haribo...
