  1. Dear Sir,

i wondered if you wouldn't mind sparing me a few moments of your time.

i am shortly graduating from The University of Lethbridge (Alberta, Canada) with a BA in Philosophy, and I am planning school options in the UK.

I was born in the UK, and grew up in the hills of the Peak District. I am looking to undertake my MA and Ph.D. In philosophy somewhere in the UK, though I am now well out of the circle.

I am a mature student 38, and I will be graduating, hopefully, with a 3.45 and with an honours thesis. My areas of interest are ethics, quantum theory (theory - not the math side), and metaphysics. My honours will be 'Agents and responsibility under the Many Worlds interpretation of Quantum Mechanics'.

I am worrying if you might suggest the best universities to apply to. I had, of course, hoped to get into Oxford - but I think my GPA will be too low. I quite like the idea of St. Andrews, Edinburgh, Dundee, LSE, and Kings College - but I wondered what your thoughts were.

Money is always an issue - I'm just coming out of 4 years of undergrad - and thusly the windows mite seems purely sybaritic right now!

I look forward to hearing from you, and thank you in advance for your time and efforts.

    Regards,

    S
  2. You are brilliant. Every time I see your posts on a thread I'm like -furiously nods head-.
  3. Thanks for responding (and closing) to the Imperial thread and keeping it for future applicants if they need it.
  4. Hi
Could you kindly share with us name of the guy of your profile picture?
    Thanks
  5. Hi River,

I'm a long-time admirer of your advice and I've come to the point where I'd like to be the recipient of it this time. I was reading your responses in a thread about the importance of the Russell Group (posted about a year ago). I've currently got a place at the University of Kent for English and History, but with my grades (A*AB) I'm wondering if I would be better placed at a Russell Group/higher ranked university? (Sheffield, for example, are showing places through adjustment.) I'm dubious about this, wondering if it would make any difference at all, or if a Russell Group may give me a leg up, and I don't want to risk going to university I've never seen before for potentially unfounded results. Any help would be appreciated - thanks!
  6. Will you help me recover the threads back?

If you're looking at Warwick as your first choice (firm) undergrad uni, which other 4 universities you also considered attending? Name 4 universities only.

Please take note that this message board limits the choices to 16 only. If the unis were not in the choices, please specify the unis by writing them instead. Thank you.

    Dear Moderators,

I'm very sorry if I have violated some rules of this message board. I guess I should have reviewed them more before I even started posting, because I wasn't aware that such rules existed. Anyhow, please understand that I wasn't spamming or anything. The threads I started were to provide knowledge of which universities that a particular set of students are considering. In other words, the results of the surveys I made would somehow give us an information/data saying which universities are commonly considered as peers of this or that uni. For example, the results that we could gather from UCL students would be different from Oxford students, and vice versa. And, such results would then tell us which unis are considered peers of UCL, and vice versa.
  7. Sorry double posts...
  8. i am thinking of doing my MSc. in Automotive engg. at Bradford Uni.
is the Uni. gud for automotive engg.?
  9. hi
  10. Hi

I'm very confused between Therese House (Barbican area) and Victoria hall, Dashwood studio (Elephant and Castle tube station). Prices are just the same in both these places. I'm going to be studying at LSE. I believe Therese is walking distance from LSE and and is more central than Dashwood Studio (which I believe is not very far from LSE).However, since Dashwood is relatively new, the rooms are incredible!(which makes it so tempting!).
Proximity and location are playing in my mind more than anything else.

Do you have knowledge about these places. No one seems to be replying to any of my posts I feel a little helpless.
Im not sure if you have an idea about these places, but I just feel helpless.
Thanks and sorry for the botheration.
