Busy last couple of days looking at members with TSR subscriptions to see if any have been experiencing problems - we have a little issues with certain subscriptions where they are not always renewing properly...but sometimes are...hope we get to the bottom of it soon...
Today's also been taken up with testing for the next build, due to go live this week. We've had quite a few speed and performance fixes lately, so we need to check out what effect it's having on the site.
We're also almost ready to get our data for tracking the clicks on widgets. I had a look at some sample data today and it's going to be very interesting analysing it - it's going to show some surprising results. Coupled with the surveys (which are approaching 1000 responses so far) we're going to get a real insight in to how all you members (and guests) use the widgets in the sidebar and on the homepage

That layer maze game is stupid. I have cut like 4 minutes off my original time and yet it hasn't registered a higher score, I don't understand.

I'm back from a couple of days away and have caught up with most things that have been brought to my direct attention on the site. Seems like there has been some fun and games with the site being up and down and giving people some errors.
I hope these problem won't continue, but am checking up on the status of the issues now.
There seems to be plenty of other things needing my attention too which I aim to look at over the coming days

Another week and we're expecting another round of updates to the site tonight. Several bug fixes are amongst them (on which affects the reputation system) and there are a couple of other pieces of work, including a new vBulletin plugin which we're hoping to use with the end of year awards which allows us to create our own forms on TSR.
It's great to be seeing bugs fixed and especially good to be getting the new plugin as it could have so many uses beyond a use in the end of year awards.
I'm planning on giving an update tomorrow with more details about what has been fixed and updated this week.

It's been 2 busy weeks including one unexpected late night working on TSR things until 3:30am last Friday night.
Though we might not have seen a lot of progress with bug fixes on the site, there has been a lot going on behind the scenes and we hope there'll be plenty of updates next week.
I'm off for a long weekend now and will definitely be back Monday ready to get stuck back in to things again. Just quote me if there's any posts needing my attention. I may get chance to take a look over the weekend, but if not I'll see them next week.

Today I'm getting on and trying to write up as many bugs and issues as possible for the developers. I currently have over 70 I still need to write up, but thankfully all the highest priority or most pressing issues have already been sent to them.
I spent some of yesterday afternoon specifically looking at some bugs to do with the Who Quoted Me widget and the reputation system (you might have seen me chatting with some members about it). We're not quite at the bottom of all those issues, but are making progress.
We should hopefully be making some updates to the site today to fix a few bugs and have a plan in place to fix the issues with characters from none standard alphabets such as Japanese and Arabic - I'm hopefully this will be sorted next week.

Been a busy day today looking over all the outstanding bugs and issues we have on TSR. We've prioritised a lot of them which are most likley to be affecting people's ability to use the site. Hopefully we can get a lot of those fixed soon.
I've also been in the subscribers shoutbox over the last couple of days trying to get to the bottom of some problems with it refreshing new shouts and with whispering.
So there's loads still to do to get the site to where we want it, but we're busy behind the scenes and hope that gradual improvements are noticed over the coming days and weeks!
=)

- About me
- Hello.
I'm one of the Admins on TSR. My official title is 'Product Manager', which basically means I'm involved with taking a new idea about either The Student Room or Coursework.Info and researching it (perhaps with the help of the site members) to decide the best way to proceed. I'll then work with our developers (Gossamerthreads) who'll implement the idea and finally be involved with at the testing, where again you guys might need have a part to play too.
If there are any site performance issues or bugs on the site, then I'm likely to be the person working with our developers to sort them out.
I've previously worked on several other aspects of TSR including being the community manager where I worked more closely with the moderators and members on TSR, in charge of setting up and optimising the adverts, which pay to keep the site running and also doing the customer support where I answered the emails we get sent in by people about both TSR and our other websites, such as Coursework.Info.
I first became a member on TSR way back in 2005. Since November 2006 I was a moderator in the Study Help section until I was offered a job with Acumen PI (the company who runs TSR).
I feel really lucky to be able to have this job where I'm able to help shape TSR so it can be the best student resource out there. Ever since I first became a member on the site TSR has been something special and I aim to work with everyone from the other guys in the office to all the members to keep improving TSR so it offers the best community, interaction, resources and functionality for all students to get the most out of the site.
You'll hopefully see me around the site quite a bit, but more often than not I'll be posting in About TSR, Dev and Bugs and Ask a Moderator - the areas where you guys can ask for help and put forward suggestions about the site.

A little quote...
Something so easy to forget when things may be tough or not going so well:
So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
(Isaiah 41:10)
Remember this and take strength from it. God is always with you.
