Hi, I will be applying to HSPS the following academic year, I want to be well prepared for the interview, can you tell me which books are more than useful to read for me about politics ?

Hi,
I saw your info on the Cambridge Current Students Contact List I have a few questions about the application process - it would be great if you could help!
Firstly, my particular interest is politics, and I have never studied psychology or sociology. How much reading do you think I need to do for the other two, or would it be more impressive for me to have a deeper knowledge of politics on its own?
Secondly, on the additional application form, what kind of things are appropriate when filling out the additional personal statement for why I want to do PPS specifically?
Thanks so much!

Hi,
I am hoping to apply for PPS at the end of this year and saw your name on the Cambridge sticky.
I was wondering what made you choose Caius and why not others?
Also if you have any advice for what to read in preparation for the interview/personal statement that would be great!
Thank you in advance,
Alex

Hi,
I have just seen your post in the PPS forum and wanted to ask a quick question. I am in the same situation this year where I have an interview with a politics lecturer (Prof Andrew Gamble, quite a distinguished academic in British Politics it appears!) but am planning to specialise in Psychology asap. I was just wondering if they are still knowledgeable in the field of psychology or whether interview is more focused on your personal statement or generalised questions?
Thank you so much for your time!
Catherine

- Interests
- I like many things in life, like cheesecake
Everyone likes a bit of cheesecake, no?
I also like listening to music, I try and be open to any sorts, but I draw the line at heavy metal.
I like playing music as well, on my piano, guitar, saxophone and viola.
I like to read books.
I go to the occasional gig when I can
Parties are always good fun, as is meeting new people and seeing my mates
School's really not that bad
I like to chat and have a good laugh
And I can't say no to good food (but I can say enough).
