Hello, Another question smack.
I have an option between Business Engineering (which is a good mix) and Mechanical Engineering, but as we all know about these mix degrees, they are not very conventional, and mostly employers prefer mainstream degrees, what is your take on that ? why should I not go for Business Engineering ?

Okay, that was quite helpful. Thankyou.
I dont particularly like Robotics and Mechatronics, but as you said, the benefit of Mechanical Engineering is that it is a very broad field, so they are just a small part of the degree in the End., while programming and Electronics are major parts of Electrical Engineering.
One more thing, have you heard of Electromechanical Engineering ? and if yes, can you tell me how different it is from Mechatronics Engineering (both of them being a mixture of EE and ME) ?
Regards

Thankyou for your reply.
IF you dont mind, can you tell me How exactly did you find out in your 1st Semester that Mechanical is your thing ?

Okay.
One more question, I am actually quite confused between EEE and Mechancial Engineering, and I think you went through the same situation some time back, so can you tell me how you figured it out at the end.
The thing with me is that , In the Electrical Engineering I dont really like Electronics or programming and to a certain extend Mechatronics, but I do have a thing for the Power sector (Especially HVDC).
In Mechancial Engineering, I very much like Mechanics, Kinematics, Thermodynamics, Industrial Quality Management etc, almost the whole field apart from the Programming and Mechatronics.

Hello Smack,
I hope you are doing fine.
I have a question regarding Mechanical Engineering.
Is it possible for Mechanical Engineering graduates to do an MSc in Power Systems or Power Engineering ? which I know is an entirely Electrical Field. Actually I was looking at the websites of different universities, and most of them require a degree in EEE as a prerequisite. Outside UK, most of the universities are accepting Mechanical Engineers for Masters in Power Engineering.
Moreover, how important is the reputation of the previous university when applying for an MSc in a top notch university like Cambridge. I remember I talked to you regarding employment sometime back, and you told me that experience and interview matters alot for it, can you tell me what matters the most when applying for an Msc (apart from Grades of course).

Hey, is Edinburgh a targeted uni by the oil companies?
Or not as much as Aberdeen, Heriot-Watt?
-
Are you sure they don't mean anything?
I'm afraid that when the employer see 'Manchester' in my CV.
He will say like 'Oh, Manchester.. hmmm.. ok...'
well, at least it's happening in my country.. kinda biased.. -__-"
-
Hello!
Is Manchester well respected, especially in Mech eng?
Because I've seen that UK league tables are actually contradicted with the international ranking.

Thanks for the +rep (at least, I assume it was you )
