i thought they force everyone to do CAD? haha so im guessing from what you have said that you have to option to use watever techniques you have learnt in design? so CAD or something else?

Hey Smack
Did you enjoy the design modules when you did them? Im particularly interested in the design parts they sound really good and fun and it seems u get quite a bit of freedom in terms of what you can do for them?!!! What did the design involve(besides CAD)?
-
yeahh i dnt think i'll do foundation year. If i do well in jan exams i'll probably do BEng first then move up!! If i do terrible in the exams i'll do the foundation year first then do MEng after.

yeahh im doing computing and i hate the programming its crap i hope its not too hard!
This is what the list was for Year 1:
Core
Electrical Circuits & Devices (H6098)
Engineering Maths 1A (H1033)
Programming for Engineers (H1038)
Statics and Mechanics of Materials (H7101)
Electromechanics (H6058)
Engineering Maths 1B (H1034)
Engineering Mechanics (H1028)
Engineering Thermodynamics (H3052)
it does say on the electrical parts that (introduction to motors, power flows, biological effects, electrical safety etc) so i guess its very similar to what you said.
When you started @ RGU did u start of doing the BEng then moved up to MEng?

How heavy is the content of electricity and magnetism in Mechanical? At the uni's im applying to iv had a look at the timetables and module information and it seems the first year and half of the second is heavy on the electricity side of things, magnetism laws and maths then after that it seems a bit more relaxed and they are mainly design modules after that and business modules along with the final project.
How hard is the programming also?

Hi Smack
I have been looking into the gas and oil industry for a summer placement, not having much luck. i am in my first year doing a Quantity Surveying degree.
do you know where would be a good idea to look for summer placements or work experience?

Hi Smack,
I have read some post from you and you seem to be very knowledgable on Petroleum Engineering and Universities...I was wondering if you could help me out with a situation? I am due for an interview at Manchester University within the upcoming 2 weeks and I would appreciate your help with questions that I may be asked and things that I would be expected to know for the interview, just so that I have all of my bases covered and that I'm not shocked by what they ask and completely mess up.
Thanks in advance for taking the time for this,
Jeremi
