I study/have studied on both sides of the Scottish/English Border, at two of the oldest universities in the English-speaking world. I'm hopeful that one day they'll embrace cutting edge technology once in a while. Like, y'know, electricity. Other than that, us graduate students tend to have fairly little to moan about. Oh, except deadlines, and funding, and research, and classes before midday.
I used to be the Service Controller at the Lanarkshire Emergency Medical Service (Out of Hours), for the NHS. Promotion waaay above someone's ability. Smashing.

School grades don't make you special.
University league tables drive me bonkers. How does awarding points for the amount of 1sts/2:1s you give out and taking points off for those that drop out make any sense? Shouldn't we just give away degrees for free?
