Internships are in many cases just as competitive as grad positions, so don't take rejections personally. Even when I had done a previous internship, I still got two outright rejections and some ignores when applying for another one for this summer.

I don't personally know why you're being rejected as I'm not in the HR/recruiting departments of the companies you're applying to (who are you applying to, by the way?).

A graduate scheme is where the company takes on graduates and rotates them about the business in different departments or areas before they decide on a career path. I quite like this idea as it gives people a variety of real world experiences with which to base their career decisions. A normal job is just that, a job. E.g. you'll go straight in as, say, a junior structural engineer and work your way up.

I think it's mainly big companies that have graduate schemes and smaller ones that recruit directly into normal jobs.

A 2:2 won't get you past any autoflilters but from what I've seen from my coursemates who graduated this summer with 2:2s, they were still able to get interviews and job offers if they had good experience and it was a person reading the CV on the other end rather than a computer.

If you don't get on a grad scheme then you'll need to get a normal job.

thats good...i wanted to do civil eng but queen mary doesnt have it ...they have sustainable energy eng so i was like thats good too...my back ups civil eng tho at city however i still wanna go to my first choice ...u probs needed to get 3As for UCl civil eng?
