It's expensive because American unis think they can get away with charging that much, and students often pay it too. Scholarships can be easy to get, depending on what you study. I study Arabic & Persian, two "critical need" languages. Once I go to uni and start formally studying, the US govt. will actually pay me to learn abroad and even offer me a job after I graduate. (not that I would want that )

I can't afford to travel to an Arab country now, but US universities are unsurprisingly generous with scholarships for Arabic students to study abroad. Lebanon or Egypt would both be great choices.

Do you go to Djibouti often?

I'm a flag nerd! and I also want to study Arabic at uni so I learned a fair amount about Muslim countries, esp. in Africa
