It's good experience if you want to get a job during term time too! Oooh I heard about the law trip, sounds really fun, I hope you get it
I got a huge Staples brochure this morning and spent an hour or so ticking everything I wanted... which was everything I know exactly what you mean, highlighters are wonderful inventions. I've bought all my kitchen stuff and bedding, and some food that'll last ages like bags of pasta and canned things so I don't have to worry the first week. I also bought a pink laptop Do you need to get a lot?
Wow, they're off early! Lucky though, I agree that I'm jealous - it feels so weird to be in this waiting game. This will probably sound weird, but I'm quite excited to get back to studying something I keep checking my post and email frantically to see if Bristol's sent anything to get excited about. Have you received anything?
Haha I hope so! I'm so nervous meeting new people lol, hopefully I won't be painfully shy.
Ooh that's a good idea What sorts of things did you make to freeze? You're certainly doing better than I am at the moment, my mum's getting pretty frustrated that I can't correctly boil rice... oopsie.
Cool, I'll chat to you on there then probably I am thank you Hope you've been well!

I'm sorry again for taking so long to reply - I was away on holiday for a week and a bit and then got ill Didn't want to send a drugged up response to you!
How are you doing? Excited for moving? I've started buying things and it's all sinking in now... we're actually really going! You are more than welcome to have some cake and brownies, I've also bought a funky teapot - hopefully my flatmates will like me
What were you working as? Lucky you having a job, handy cash I imagine as well! how did the week of independent living go as well?
I'm Pooja Kawa on the FB group Hopefully chat to you soon! Sorry again for my lateness, I hope you've been well xxxx

Hey! I'm sorry for taking a bit of time to reply - I hope you're doing well!
Thank you! I saw you got 115 Queens Road, that's really convenient, you'll not be having to get up early like the rest of us I'm now self-catered as well as you, I wish my parents would go away for a week and let me test cooking out by myself! Definitely need to learn more stuff rather than just cake and brownies...
I think I'm going to wait to register too, purely because I'm a bit scared that if I do the guest thing, I'll get something wrong!
I wouldn't worry about taking too much anyway, especially if you're thinking about staying for at least part of the holidays! I know, it's all so official now - especially knowing our accommodation, it's nice to plan out what life will be like
Yay Londoner Definitely, I'm going to miss it too I might even miss the tube! It'll be weird to leave but Bristol looks amazing so I'm sure that feeling will go away soon enough
I can't wait to get started and meet everyone Have you joined the Facebook group? I hope you've been having a good week!

Are you going to both the Freshers party and the ball? I'm not sure whether to do both or just one, I assume the JCRs will be doing stuff as well But yes, saving up - it's going to be an expensive week
Both of those have really lovely rooms I didn't expect it to be as popular either, I was going to put it down as my second choice but I got an email soon after telling me to change it to something else as it was oversubscribed! Fingers crossed I chose Goldney and CHH I don't really mind where I go now, as long as I have a bed!
Ooh a whole practice week to be a proper grown up... sounds scary! I'm trying to teach myself how to cook, and I've done a bit, but my mum keeps barging in, so you'll have a much better time of it If all else fails, there's always pasta/beans on toast! I agree about the packing, I know I'm going to overpack and look like an idiot when I show up Have you received your registration stuff yet?
I see you're from London too! Whereabouts? I'm from Ealing in West London

Hey! Ooh yay congratulations to you too! I see you're doing law, that's awesome Are you excited for Freshers? I can't wait to get there and start, 5 weeks are going to go by so slowly! Where did you pick for your accommodation?

Did you study AQA History? I think that AQA screwed over a lot of people, haha. At least you got into your firm! It sucks how it could have clearly been an A in previous years.
Oh, I applied for Law and got a place at Exeter but I still want to do Languages so I'm applying for Adjustment and seeing whether I can get into Durham to do languages and Philosophy or just languages If not, I'll just change courses at Exeter or try another uni...like Bristol
-
No, I didn't post it on that thread. I got A*AAB. Really disappointed with my Spanish as that was the B and I got an A at AS. The grade boundaries were the highest I've ever seen this year for languages. If I had done the exam last year then I would have gotten an A on the exam and overall. I might get a remark. I might get a remark for my Maths as well because it look like I was 1 mark off an A* :/ Surprised at English Lit really. I've never gotten an A in any of my modules in English Lit, but I got an A overall. It was because of my A2 coursework though. I got full marks!
-
Well done on your results! I posted it on the A level Results thread but someone negged me and I didn't want to get any more negs 2 A*s is amazing!

I am actually practising Spanish a lot I like listening to Spanish podcasts, well the podcasts I listen to are radio stations so it's Spansih radio. I also talk to myself and I'm the one who tries to make the class speak Spanish when the teacher isn't there, but they all ignore me or look at me as if I'm crazy :/ Talking to myself is a lot easier!!!
My friend has four exams You're both lucky, haha. The bulk of my exams is Maths though because I have four exams for Maths. Without resits I'd only have five exams in the summer :/ That sounds a lot nicer, haha. I think I have four exams in May and then four in June so at least my exams are kind of spread out
My English Lit coursework is killing me too, lol. I enjoy it though and I love my texts. I think I've almost finished it so that makes me happier. Oh I'm definitely going to revise over Easter. I've already made half of my revision cards for Ethics and I'm going to try and get the rest done by next week so that I just revise over Easter. I'm actually looking forward to Maths revision the most even though it's my worst subject, lol. Did you break up for Easter today?
I'm leaning towards Exeter because it allows me to do a year in Spain, I like the city (even though the hills literally killed me) and the Law talk was good. However, I looked at the bursaries etc. and there were hardly any. I think I only get about £2500 from the university itself and at Birmingham it's like double that! I shouldn't base my decision on the money I receive from the uni though. I'm still leaning towards Exeter, but I haven't decided yet. I've got to decide soon though!!

Hey, thanks for asking about my January module results. My were results were good except for Maths , haha. I got a D in Maths :O and a B in another Maths exam and I got a B and a C in English. I’m going to resit that C so I can get a higher grade. I’m aiming to improve it by at least 11 to get the next grade. I need to work really hard on my coursework too My Philosophy mark was great! 99/100! I’m definitely aiming for an A* in it now I just need 81 to get the A* I wish my other marks were a bit higher, but it’s not impossible for me to achieve high grades now so I’m quite pleased with my results I’m just worried about Spanish because it’s gotten harder and I haven’t had any exams in it yet. I don’t know how I’m really doing. How many exams do you have this summer?

- Academic Info
- GCSE results are very anti-climatic. 11 years of education building up to these exams and you're just given a sheet of paper at 10am in a dusty school hall.
Anyway, GCSEs '08-'10 (if you care):
English Literature: A*
English Language: A*
Religious Studies: A*
Sociology: A*
History: A
Mathematics: A
Biology: A
Physics: A
Chemistry: B
French: B
Textiles: B
AS Levels were English Literature (A), Sociology (A), History (B ) and French (C.. I may cry)
A2 Levels: English Literature (A*), Sociology (A*) and History (B - will always be the bane of my life...)
