Hi xpuser, I've sent you a PM about this because I may need to know extra information than should be displayed publicly here.
  2. Hello

    According to entry requirements.
I am from Latvia (Europe) thats means we have Attestation of General Secondary Education what includes english exam results, math.

English Language Attestation of General Secondary Education score 8 is accepted as a substitute for IELTS 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in any band)

Thats means if i pass english in my school of 8 then there is no need for IELTS?

And maybe there is more exam what I have to pass.Im sorry about these questions but I really want to study.
    Thanks
  3. Hi thank you so much for the email it will be very helpful and i do mean that.

Just turn up, one more won't be an issue - sounds like we are going to be busy though
  5. Hi Moid
I just tried to register for the open day this weekend (I'm looking to do animation, haven't decided 2D or 3D yet) but the booking is closed! Unfortunately I've already booked flights and accomodation to get there ( I live in Ireland). I can't make it to the November open day either, is there any way I can still go to the open day this weekend?
  6. Hey there, i already tried askin around but am not getting any answers and you seem the right one t ask...
Well I'll be going to uclan in september to study animation, but i have to go through foundation year first, i was wondering if i did the right decision here cuz i've read a lot mixed student reviews about the university itself and many seem to be over exaggerated...
I also got offers from the university of bradford and hertfordshire but i turned them down, did i go wrong here ??? pleasee hellpp

    Hi Domidz

I don't think it's essential to have a Higher in art as long as you have the grades to reach the UCAS requirement of the course (this is true at Hertfordshire, it might not be so elsewhere). It's possible that if you applied to us without a Higher in Art our system would reject you (an automated filter), but it would send you an email asking you to contact me and ask me to see if I wished to override that filter and offer you an interview. IF you need a guide as to the value of your qualifications as UCAS points, there is a good one here:

    http://www.ucas.com/students/ucas_tariff/factsheet/sqa

Regarding the portfolio, I have an advice PDF that I send to interested applicants, if you wish to send me an email (m.p.bowman@herts.ac.uk) I'll send it to you. Concentrate on life drawing, perspective drawing, colour paintings (digital or traditional), images that show strong composition (can include photography), 3D modelling in Maya is a definite yes, any form of animation... those sorts of areas.

    Good luck

    Martin
  8. Hey Moid

I've been following the threads about animation on here and I've found myself thinking that animation specifically 3D animation is something I would really like to do.
I'm 17, up in Scotland and have done all my Standard Grades, Highers and Advanced Highers and I've left school and I'm currently on a gap year. I took Art at standard grade and got an A in it but through my last years I chose Music, English, Physics, Chemistry and Maths at Higher and the latter three at Advanced Higher. Not sure where to go or what I need to do from here. I realise I need to produce a portfolio and I'm drawing, sketching and teaching myself how to use maya but will I need to get a qualification such as Higher Art to even get a look in on some of these courses?
Any input would be really appreciated, Cheers.

    Hi Chris

Don't worry, I've made you an offer; you can ignore the invitation. See you in September
  10. Hey Martin,

Sorry to both you again, I manage to get an interview with you before going through extra, I've gotten a decition from Hertfordshire which is an 'invitation', it says about an interview on the 30 March, I wasn't sure if I should accept it and hope that admissions find the paper work? Or to phone them up on Tuesday and explain the situation to them?

    Thanks,
    Chris
