I went read through the textbook with my old summer exam notes and added anything I'd missed or fleshed out anything I had skimmed over in my old notes. But yea, just generally directly going through the textbook making sure I had a thorough understanding of everything.

It's great! Yea, the workload is heavy but manageable if you're disciplined. Essay wise, we have two essays at the same time along with three other assignments (for Macro, Micro and Maths). The way it's been for me is that I've had all 3-4 supervisions on one week and 1-2 on the other. So, I have one week where I have to do the two essays and give in another assignment or two which gets hectic and the other week where I have less and can take a couple of days off doing no work (after lectures). So, it's kinda cyclical. It can get heavy going at times with assignments being set on things you haven't covered in lectures yet, so you have to go learn it yourself and do the assignment. And there is a lot of reading for the essays too and again they don't always line up with the lecture content.
