Interestingly you only needed 74/75 for 100UMS on that paper. The definition question wouldn't have prevented anyone from getting max marks.

I recall being annoyed at that when I flicked through S4 haha. Your rambling advice may work actually. I found a ramble-eque one after a quick browse on the web and it has the missing part.

A minimum spanning tree (MST) of a weighted graph G is a spanning tree of G whose edges
sum to minimum weight. In other words, a minimum spanning tree is a tree formed from a subset
of the edges in a given undirected graph, with two properties: (1) it spans the graph, i.e., it includes
    every vertex in the graph
, and (2) it is a minimum, i.e., the total weight of all the edges is as low
    as possible.

In terms of maths I'm doing M2, S3, FP2-3. I don't need to do D1... but it's quite easy so I'm taking it anyway. Recently I noticed that in the D1 June '11 mark scheme, the definition for 'minimum spanning tree' needed the part *contains all vertices* for a mark; the official textbook definition doesn't include that. I won't make the same mistake with S2 and trust the textbook's definitions this time; would you happen to know where to find better definitions?

I'd rather be asked to get A* in additional maths than say, 1 in STEP II or III, but if you think you can nail it, then yes definitely go for it :P

I've never heard of a school offering additional maths, let alone STEP II/III. Sounds like an ideal place for mathmos. I'm in London... you?

Why don't you leave D2 for next summer? I have a friend with a maths offer from cambridge (A*AA + 11 in STEP), and the A* they got in Maths last year doesn't count surprisingly. Keep five of your modules secret and in the bag for next year, that way you'll have practically no work to do. Admittedly it would be impressive having three maths a levels before Year 13, but admission staff may get worried that your math will go rusty during 2013. I would leave A2 additional maths there as something to show you're still practising the subject. I may be talking rubbish though, what have other people said (if anything)?

At least your class is getting grades! My AS maths class last year didn't manage any grades i.e. U's in all three modules. The education here is awful. I guess it's also the students fault as well, you can't be reliant on teachers to get good grades, they don't care in my experience.

Jesus, that's a lot of clashes. The likelihood is you'll do better in the first exam. If you get to decide which paper goes first in any of them, and you're planning to go Cambridge/UCL, I suggest following the order pure-mechanics-stats-decision for prioritisation, as they'll ask for your UMS and that's their preference order.

I've noticed in a couple of threads your 100UMS scores so I doubt you'll need any such advantages haha

I don't even have a class. My school don't do FM. And I'm glad in a way because all they do is drag me down tbh. They spend 4months going through a module that takes a weekend with some effort. I believe 58 is a D, that's quite shocking (considering it's S2 we're talking about here and they had classes...).

Omg you did S2 without S1... that's unheard of, although it's more than possible. Have you got any other clashes? What are you doing first out of D1/S1 (if you get to pick that is)? I got an A in S2.

I'm on 3.6, 'testing hypotheses about the mean of a normal distribution'. I've completed chapters 1, 2 and 5. All that's left is 4 and the rest of 3.

So have you revisited S3 yet? You mentioned previously that you'd forgotten the content.

I feel like (S3) Chapter 3 is never going to end... :coma:

I may give S4 a brief skim, not sure.

Wow one weekend. I almost did M2 in a day so I'll see if I can top that
