  1. hey, you may recall I wanted to read law at cambridge (my account was chaza01, I remember discussing Hoppo with you as he supervised my dad back in the day at Downing), anyway, point is I'm now looking at doing PPE instead and then maybe a conversion course. Do you have any advice?\

    Many thanks
  2. Can I please have your opinion on this? It's really important to me! http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/show....php?t=2397949
  3. Would you be willing to take a quick look over a paragraph of my covering letter, please? I've tried to express general joy at mooting but I think I might have crossed into being way too corny. I know you're busy but it'd be really helpful.

    thanks

  5. Hi I saw that you posted a comment in a Contract Law thread about a fictional case study about past consideration and was wondering if you could help me out a bit? Thanks

  8. Hey JJarvis

I spoke to you a couple of years ago concerning the senior status LLB.

I am still considering applying at Oxford and Cambridge, but I have noted that they take on very few students, and expect that students will attain a first. My issue is that my second year average was 67%, which I am not sure will suffice for such applications.

Is it still worth me applying, if I have good, law related ECs (ie. writing a paper for a legal journal, having worked at some small law firms in the past), and could I potentially get through the interview stage?

    Thanks!
  9. Hi jjarvis,

I've noticed you're a regular on here so was wondering if you'd be able to help me with something.

I have an interview for a teaching position and need to give a presentation on a legal principle which students in my experience find difficult. It's been a while since I studied law so cant really remember which topics were the most troubling. I was wondering if you have any idea for contract, tort and criminal law?

    Would be much appreciated!

    Thanks
  10. (In case you forgot about my thread, your advice is greatly useful.)

Yeah, I wish I checked out how the quality of a levels effects uni prospects before I enrolled on them, I'm going to take history to boost my UCAS and prove I can write well, as I'm pretty sure I can get an A in it.

jjarvis (or anyone else that can help for that matter), if you take a realistic view on what uni I am likely to go to, what sort of calibre do you see this as? Also, when taking into account this calibre, how strong will this effect be on my chances of getting a training contract at a London law firm? Not the top firms obviously. As well, is Oxford or Cambridge something that is bordering on a waste of time to even bother to apply for? It appears as if I may just be wasting one of my five possible choices.

    About me
I'm interested in history, politics, and law. Feel free to PM me with questions about the first two. You can also PM me about Edinburgh, and admissions to the senior status/affiliated law programmes at Oxford and Cambridge. Please do a search of the forum before you PM me--there's a lot of stuff out there about all of these subjects, so read existing threads. If you do PM me, it might take me a while to get to you, as I am sometimes too busy to do much on TSR.

If, on the other hand, you have a *substantive* question about law, please post it in the "Law Academic Help" forum. I don't offer advice on coursework-related questions by PM. The forum lets everyone see the questions and lets other students comment.
