Seriously, it's fine for you to be supported by your Dad in every way, especially if he's very well off. I wouldn't worry about feeling like you're a brat or anything, and if you're anything like me, well, I probably am a bit bratty about having well-off parents - just be a little demanding, even if you're nice about it in writing, lol.

Right, that makes more sense to me now - I just mean it seemed a bit unreal because I felt a bit silly talking about your Dad being in financial difficulties and then you come back and say who he is, that's all - so it's my embarassment!
Yeah, that's a tough situation - it's nice for you that you get supported financially at college, we are both lucky, I am in the same situation. I don't know how best to advise - I guess it's down to your relationship with him. Is he just very very busy and so not thinking about your situation enough? Maybe an email explaining what's happening in careful words might help, if that's the case. Are you in regular touch?
I do think if he's offered to support you and you rely on it, nice as that is for you, it's something he should follow through on and make it work properly so that you don't get gaps.

Haha, yes of course, it's just that when I dropped in on the thread, I imagined a struggling student at a lower university and you sounded a little confused. I just mean that as a very bright person and the Oxford-educated daughter of a top businessman, I feel sure you know what the problem is and are easily capable of being confident about dealing with it? I assumed, that's all. Not being offensive, but your post sounded a bit unreal. My family isn't poor either. But maybe your financial circumstances are very different than your Dad's?
