Acaila

Amid the desolate hills
The bitter Scottish wind
Rips through the weedy ground,
And the lonely crag offers little shelter
To any who dare venture so far into the wilderness.
Alas, there is but little forgiveness in those hills,
Who look vengeful on the horizon,
As if obscuring a hidden malevolence
Somewhere in their catacomb like
Peaks and valleys.
And yet there is, some say
A single flower that sprouts;
And wages a lonely fight against the winds
And the rains; exhibits its bright yet sturdy petals
A single show of resistance;
Like a single ray of sun breaks through the heavy clouds
And brightens up the dark
And dejected days.
