Clean for snatch first in the workout as power moves, always do power moves first (I don't mean powerlifts here) anyhting which requires explosive force or you cannot lift the weight is first, followed by the strength building moves which are more suited to grinding out.
  2. Hi Matt, thanks for the advice. I've thought about what you said, tweaked things a little bit. This amount of volume is going to be a shock to the system, but managed doing 5x3 quite well today. How does it all look? Anything you notice which is obviously wrong. Also, should i lower the weight below 80 percent if i have to in order to do 8x3, or should i stick with 80 percent at 5x3 and work my way up? Thanks mate.

  3. Alright Matt, i get what you're saying, so working in 8x3 of my power lifters will help with explosive strength for Olympic lifts? So what about my current template? Should i keep it and change the rep scheme to make it more explosive 8x3, or?

    Thanks for your time.

  5. Hi Matt, looking for some advice.

Started Olympic lifting at uni once a week, at the moment early days, technique, flexibility, blablabla. Although it won't pick up and get serious for quite a few months, i want my training now to be useful with regards to what i'll be doing later. So i figured that i should just try to get as strong as possible and train at a higher intensity than i have done in the past in order to best achieve this. So i thought maybe something like this?

    Back Squats 3x5
    Overhead press 3x5
    Dead lifts 1x5
    Chins
    GHR

    Wednesday
    Front squats 3x5
    Rows 3x5
    Close grip bench 3x5
    Abs

    Friday
    Back Squats 3x5
    BTN Press 3x5
    Dead lifts 1x5
    Broceps 2x8
    Shrugs 3x5

Olympic training at the moment is 2 hours per week.

    What do you think?

    Cheers.
