(especially if you choose Italian!). Essex is really good for languages; Spanish and Italian cafés (an evening a week where you meet up and talk in Italian/Spanish), loads of foreign language DVDs, the online stuff the teaching staff put on is so useful, you won't need to spend loads on books, plus the MFL film club (one night a week with a free entrance to see a foreign film in one of the lecture buildings). Student life is pretty decent I find
