Saw your profile on the Medics and Applicants profile and was hoping for some advice. I am currently on a gap year and am re-applying.
I have 8A*'s and 4A's at GCSE and achieved A*A*A(a) at A-Levels.
I've got work experience and gap year plans e.g. tutoring, care assistant at a care home, volunteering in hospitals and travelling.
What do I do to ensure an offer this year? What kind of chance do you think I have? Would you be able to look over my personal statement? And is there any med school you'd recommend that you think I meet the requirements very well for?
Thanks a lot and sorry for all the questions!
Thank you soo much!x i really hope i do get As in my alevels..x
Oh I completely understand, so no worries
Despite me listing some of the negatives below, due to a variety of reasons, I eventually picked king's. I hope it's the right choice for me! Having said this, I would have been very content about going to Barts.
It's very tough - and I said this back in September. I do get the feeling that the student support at King's (not that I'm prone to needing it) would be lacking, which is probably down to the large year group. Plus it's more expensive at king's (Almost £6000 for accommodation?! Come on... ). I've been to a couple of open days at Barts and you really get the sense that you'll be in a supportive environment. The staff are really transparent and the students that I talked to seemed great! Plus, I think I'd really like the PBL element so... that's why I'm not too bothered if it's a no from King's!
I am indeed on a gap year I applied to Nottingham last year actually... I didn't even get interviewed The campus looks fantastic and the course...
Well they gave you an offer in the end! I didn't apply to Birmingham this year, but I'd love to go there!
No reply from King's yet, but I'm not bothered anymore tbh You've firmed Nottingham I see - very nice choice
