Hi I may not know you but I feel that when ever I have needed advice you have been there. So today I recieved my results I got distiction distiction for health and social care double award and for sociology AS i got a d. For middlesex uni I needed to achieve a double distiction to get in. But what do I do, shall i try for adjustment??
  2. I don't think that you should talk to your teacher. Its a bit late now that you have replies. Yeah option A is best and work hard to get your grades. Don't allow yourself to get stressed. Like they say think happy thoughts.
  3. Hi
Well at least you have some offers. I think that you should either:
    a) accept one of the offers then on results day if you do better adjust or if you see somewhere you like, and have the grades for, in clearing then on results day you should call them up and see if you can verbally secure an offer then ask your university to release you and add it via track.
    B) You can have a look on UCAS and see what is in Extra. If you see something you like then you can call them up confirm that they have spaces, see if you can apply and get

  5. some sort of verbal confirmation. Decline your unconditional offers and add the new university via extra. This however is very risky as the university could change their mind after you've declined your choices and you could be left without a choice.
My advice would be to do option A. Accept an offer and wait till results day.
With regards to the additional reference you'd only really use this if applying though extra. Results day is so hectic that they really wont have time to read one.
What you did wasn't really stupid. Some people say to put a higher option, a safe option and 2 middle options.
  6. You could always try and apply to them again through adjustment. If they rejected you because they didn't think that you'd get the grades then they may reconsider you.
I didn't get a place via adjustment. I got a place via UCAS EXTRA. I then like an idiot missed my grade but they told me that the course was full and to reapply this year (which I did) and they gave me an offer straight away. I also got offers for other good universities. Not getting an offer straight aways isn't the end of the world, like I said it may turn out better. Oh and it's not an extra reference its and extra personal statement.
  7. I think that my personal statement had let me down at first last year as I didn't get any help with it. However when I sent in an extra personal statement I made it more personal to the university. I talked about why I am interested in their specific course, looked at what modules they taught, talked about why I like the facilities and even why studying in such a diverse city will be beneficial to studying sociology. I think that they liked that.
So what exactly is your situation? Do you have all 5 rejections or are you still waiting on some places to reply?
  8. No probs
I don't think that you could change their minds now that a decision has been made to be honest.
Have you had all rejections or are you waiting on anything else? If you have all rejections/or think you might get all rejections then you can start looking to see what is in EXTRA and make a list of where you might want to go. You still have time to go and see them. There are still some good unis left. If you become eligible for EXTRA you can call the university to confirm that they have spaces left and tell them a bit about yourself and ask
  9. if you can send in an additional reference (which you can make more specific if you want to). If you do get to that stage then let me know and I'll help you if you want since I've been there before. Don't worry you can message me if you want.
Changing your predictions probably wont help at this stage so you have to come up with a back up plan. Find some places that you will consider going to even if you get an offer. Look for places that you have the predicted grades for and that you think you'll meet the grades for. It may turn out for the better like me.

Thank you. It is just so hard I am trying to stay positive. The thing is Kingston rejected me too. I know I will do much better than what my teachers think but I am going to lose out.
Shall I speak to my teacher to persuade him to email the universities with my changed predicted grades? Shall I phone the universities and tell them my situation???
I am just so confussed and lost. Maybe things will be better in the future. It is just so unfair if the teacher had changed the predicted grades then I would not be in this situation.
I am sorry once again but I just need someone to talk to who has been through this. However, if you are busy please let me know
    Thankyou
