Oh and you'll be fine, really. You'll make friends and they'll help you out too if you ever get into any trouble. Generally on maths courses you'll make a friendship group and you'll have one or two 'maths leaders' who are the best in your group at maths. Normally the 'group leaders' on the course will be the ones getting firsts and who know that they'll learn a lot more if they help other people with the content too.

You're absolutely fine. You'll probably go over your A level material in the first term anyway, regardless of what uni it is. The top 5 will breeze over it a lot quicker, mind you, but even then I'd simply recommend reading "How to think like a mathematician" to make sure you know what sort of mindset to be in when studying.
It took me about a term to figure out precisely how to go about transitioning from A level study to uni study, but it's not as difficult as people make it out to be. It just requires a little more effort on your part to counteract the lack of spoon feeding. Actually, some unis still spoon feeds a considerable amount compared to mine... apparently other unis get seminars, tutorials and workshops for their three years. We only got all 3 for the first year, and then there were only workshops, which aren't run by staff either. Nevertheless, the students are coping fine.
